@LarkAnderson:

I just tested out Move. I tried moving Super Mario Galaxy from my Games I want stack to my Wii games stack. It added to the latter, and deleted it from the former, but with a few side effects. First, there were 141 games on the Want stack, and after I "moved" it, there were 139. So it unintentionally deleted an additional game, which I don't know what. Secondly, when I looked back at the edit list page of the Want stack, one of the other games were checked, though I had checked exactly one game during the move process. Another game had accidentally got checked.

I suspect there is some problem with the delete button. I would recommend users don't delete games from any large stack until this is resolved. I lost a total of 7 games to this move/delete that I don't know what. (The other 6 are when I deleted certain games and noticed that the number of games in my Want stack was lower than the number of games I should've had after the delete.)

I am going to test the move button a bit more later over the weekend. So please wait.

edit: I just tried it again. I "moved" super paper mario from my Wanted stack into my Wii Games stack, and it deleted an additional game to make my games list 137 (instead of 138) from the original count of 139, and it selected prince of persia classic (PoPC) in the edit Want list. (It might've selected more, but I didn't have the time to check all of them.)

While PoPC was selected, Move and Copy weren't enabled. I had to uncheck and recheck PoPC to enable them. But when I clicked move, see what happened above. I wasn't able to click on any of the stacks again. I had to exit edit mode, before it would let me edit again. Hope this helps, Lark.

Ok, cool! A new thread for this week! :)

Firstly, I want to say that the ability to sort and filter games by platform (PS2/PS3/PS4/Xbox/Xbox360/Xbox One etc.) is very important for stacks. I cannot think of any scenario that would've made stacks better without that ability and I find myself questioning the design decision with respect to that. On top of that, there are problems with some games' platform version and the corresponding stacks' entry helped me remember what game there was an issue with, so that I could avoid that in the future purchase. I hope that information is stored somewhere in the database of my library that it can be retrieved in the future when the sort/filter by platform is activated again. Is it @LarkAnderson

When I click on edit a stack, the edit page comes up. The buttons on the top are really big with a ton of space between them. It takes up nearly half the browser. Consider that I have a fairly small screen and an even smaller firefox window on my computer. It is difficult to see more than 3 games at a time. This is an aesthetic change, but I think GS would be well served to change the buttons to be small, but still readable, on the top of the page, so that maximum number of games are visible at the same time. On top of that, the top meta data (Game, Release Date, GS Score, My Score) should be frozen so that it doesn't disappear when you scroll down.

Thirdly, in the edit stack window, the games aren't linked. It would be nice to open up a game in separate tabs while you're editing to check on your own priorities, so that you don't have to save, exit editing, and then go click on it. Becomes tedious after a while.

Fourth, the brief description for each game is TOTALLY AWESOME!!! Hats off to the one to think of it.

Fifth, I don't see a way to change the order of an ordered stack through the arrows you mentioned earlier. I don't see the up/down arrows at all. I see the numbers, but not the arrows.

Lastly, editing a large list leaves a lot to be desired. It's cumbersome. I bought 6 PSP games recently (ya, I'm behind times a bit), and created a new stack, added them to the new stack, and wanted to delete them from Games I Want stack (I didn't move them, I haven't tried out the Move button yet). However in the process, it deleted 6 more games (in addition to the ones I wanted to delete), as I found from the number of games in the stack. One of them was MGS4, which I found, but I can't figure out which games the additional 5 are. In addition, when I checked the box on one game and deleted them, others would get highlighted. So I think a field at the top of the page saying how many games have been selected would be very helpful. Just to make sure I don't delete games that I don't want to delete. For now, I would recommend that noone use the delete button until this is sorted out.

There are a few others I thought of, but can't seem to recall them now. It'll come to me and I'll post as I recall them. Thanks Lark!

@LarkAnderson:

Lark, you can check for yourself. I don't have the arrows on my edit stacks page.

Also, I have a bunch of other bugs and nifty enhancements to get around them while editing which I can post. I was wondering, should I do it here or will you create a new thread for March 21st? Thanks.

edit: On second thoughts, it became an unordered stack when you forced all migration stacks to be unordered. So that might explain it.

edit2: Actually belay that. My ordered stack doesn't have the arrows or the numbering either. I used to find the numbers, but now they've disappeared.

I just saw that the new patch got it's own review on GS. Which brings me to the next question... Is the new patch going to be released for the console version? Anyone know? Thanks in advance!!!

This is such an amazing improvement first of all. I do have a question though. In the 'My Score' column is my score for that game meant to be displayed? Currently every game in the stack has the 'RATE' link.

Yes.

@LarkAnderson

Thanks for your quick response, Lark!

The way I got 152 games onto the Games I Want stack is odd. I already had around 140 games on the games I want library before the site migrated. It seems like GS has just copied that library to this stack during the transition. However that's not the end of it. I have been adding to that stack by going to the individual game page, clicking the follow/unfollow button (the white '+' symbol) and then checking the add to the Games I Want check mark since the migration and it kept on adding to that stack without giving errors.

Now however, I cannot delete any game individually from the stack menu because the number of games in that stack is higher than 100 even if I delete a few games. I will have to delete 53 or more games for it to save, and I don't want to do that in one go because I might make some mistakes.

You guys are correct about duplicate entries. I went to Wario Land 4, and checked the "I Want to play this" check mark, and it duplicated the entry, this time with the correct name, making it my 153rd game in the stack. I also was able to reverse the process by unchecking that check mark, when it deleted the newly created 153rd entry (but not the old one with the wrong name which is still present and bugging me).

And the above two paragraphs show my predicament of why I am unable to delete ANY game from my Games I Want stack.

Secondly, I got the error on saving an empty stack. I recently bought a Wii, and some games associated with it, so I thought it would be cool to create a Wii Games I Own stack. I clicked create new stack button, entered information pertaining to stack, DID NOT ADD ANY GAMES TO IT, then tried to save, and it gave me an error. (Basically the red bar just under the address bar of the browser saying the stack is empty.)

I am going to experiment with the method you mentioned to change the intrinsic ordering within an ordered stack. I will comment on it once I get it done, but I must say the website is extremely slow when editing.

edit: I am not able to adjust the intrinsic rank manually. I click on edit the stack, delete the rank inside the edit, change the rank, and when I click elsewhere, it reverts back to the original rank. And I don't have the little arrows you talked about. I just don't see them.

edit2: Actually, I was able to edit the rank manually by changing the numbers. I had to save and exit to see it. But I still don't see the little arrows you're talking about though...

Well, sorry to rain on the parade, but there seem to be a lot of bugs there.

1. I have 152 games in the Games I Want stack. When I try to delete and save, it gives me an error saying you can't have more than 100 games on an ordered stack.

2. I created a new ordered stack called PSP Games. I added the 6 PSP games I own to this stack. However, the order in which I added them was random. I wanted to change the order within the stack to reflect my own priorities, but I am not able to figure out how to go about doing that. It seems like the only order possible is the order in which the games are entered into the stack. This needs to be fixed.

3. The GS score has not been populated fully. And in some cases, the GS score listed is just plain wrong. For example, Descent 3 is listed as 4.2 when the actual GS score in 9.

4. I now have -12 Ratings & Reviews. I had a lot of ratings, which I went back and deleted. Now the total rating count is -12. Needs to be fixed. (Not a stacks issue though.)

5. I still cannot save an empty stack. Is it possible that I didn't get the rollout that everybody else seems to have gotten?

Are these issues going to be addressed? There are other bugs, but I am not listing them for brevity. Again, sorry to rain on your parade, but I still prefer the old fully functional library system.

edit: A lot of the game names are still incorrect. For example, I don't know what Wario Land Advance: Youki no Otakara is. I assume that is Wario Land 4, which is where it takes me when I click on it, but that is not what is displayed on the Games I Want stack.

@LarkAnderson: It's Wednesday, Lark. Stacks?

I doubt anyone has been awaiting the new stacks more than I have, but I would rather have a fully functional Stacks system than one that hasn't been fully tested for bugs. From all the updates that Lark has been giving us, I gather it is nearly complete, and I've been awaiting that with bated breath, but I'll say take all the time you need... A couple of weeks, a month even, to give us a fully field tested stacks.

On a different note, I was wondering about a feature. In the old library system, we had the option to save different versions of the games. For example, take GTAV, which came out on the PS3 and X360. We would have the option to add either version (or both) to our wanted list. The same thing goes with the I own it list. I hope that option is made available to the new stacks, but from Lark's description, it doesn't seem like it. I would hate to lose the detail of which console version I want the game in, with the update. I hope this gets addressed.

I'm wondering if there are any plans on letting us delete a score we've given to a game. The previous design had a reset option, which would completely remove the score. Will this be possible in the future? I'm asking because I would like to delete all the scores I've assigned to games over the last year.

Yes, but it is cumbersome. I did it a while back and I don't remember exactly, but you have to go to user reviews. Show ratings, and apply filter. Click on one game that comes up, then you will find a delete button, along with an edit button and a flag button. Obviously, click on delete and the rating disappears.
