Well, comparing Halo 3 Xbox360 to UT3 (for the PC)

A lot of what he said in Part II was BS. Every news report he used as an intro was from Fox News or CNN, and we all know how credible they are :P Plus it's really easy to dub over what the news reporter is actually saying. Also, when he interviews the people on the street who all think they heard multiple explosions; that could just be them being scared in the heat of the moment. Who knows what was actually happening in there?

Unreal Tournament 3, in my opinion, is far superior to Halo 3 in terms of gameplay and skill required.

If you think killing someone midair with a rocket launcher in Halo 3 is hard, UT3 will be impossible for you.

Ok so we have an idea of what is coming this year. We all know for the most part what games are coming to what console. especially the 360. Why because that was the main focus of Microsofts E3. Now the Wii while has a small 3rd party following and its big exclusives loses out in overall library because of the lack of big multiplats.

Now with 360 vs PS3 is the main battle. Wii because of its larger audience appeal will probably outsell both combined. But 360 and PS3 have there own market out there. Now the lineup is very close between the 2

PS3-Heavenly Sword, Lair, Uncharted, Ratchet, Haze, Unreal 3, Warhawk, LBP, Socom confrontation, Folklore(there is a few more some help would be nice)
360-Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, SPlinter Cell conviction, Eternal Sonota, Ace Combat 6, Project Gothem Racing 4, Viva Pinata party animals.

Now for the top 5 for each IMO(yours may be different)

Overall its close but id give the nod to 360 in overall library and top 5 vs top 5 as well. Plus the multiplats will be big sellers. Now here is the point of the thread. Microsoft is in a make or break situation this year. The other 2 are not. PS3 has 3 potential killer apps in 08(MGS 4, FF 13, KZ2), and the Wii with the sales can have amazing 3rd party exclusives next year or nothing so the WIi is basically a wildcard.

For 360 it has to be made clear this holiday that the 360 is a seller. Halo 3 has to outsell every PS3 game, not one of them can be allowed to outsell Halo. GTA 4 has to sell better on 360. so does COD 4, Devil May Cry 4, and Assassins Creed. Not only do BLue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and Eternal sonota have to review well(AA-AAA) but they have to sell. LO and BD have to hit 1 million plus. and ES needs to atleast get over 500k. Splinter Cell Conviction needs to be AAA and a seller for 360. The Madden, Fifa, NCAA, sports crowd has to side with the 360 this year. Overall 360 has to dominate software sales and strong in hardware sales. and completely outsell PS3 in hardware and software. Bioshock has to sell because how else can MS justify BS being only on MS windows and 360 and it not selling. why shouldnt it go to PS3.

PS3 should have 6-7 million after this holiday run. Microsoft needs to go from its current 11-11.5 million to 16-17 million units sold in the holidays. XBL has to be well over 10 million this holiday. WHy because they have the big Killer App. Infact they have THERE BIGGEST KILLER APP in Halo 3. If they cant dominate the PS3 now, they cant ever do it. IF they cant have amazing software sales this holiday, they cant ever have great software sales.

This has to be MS holiday and for the most part it looks like they have a great chance at it turning out that way. And if it does some major announcements for 08 will be on the way for 360. However if THe PS3 is competitive then 360 will be done. PS3 will eventually blow by in 09 or 10.

Good post :) I'm a lemming but I'll be looking to get a PS3 in 2008 for Killzone 2 and MGS4.

UT3 is a timed exclusive fyi but yah I guess you can include it since we're talking about 2007 right now.

In the Stage Demo, the developer says Heavenly Sword will be 10-15 hours long, that's really disappointing cause it won't have much of a replay value (no multiplayer). lair and uncharted look cool even though I'm a lemming, but we don't know if those titles will flop, or do well. UT3 will be pretty good for the PS3, and I'm not much of a fan of Ratchet but the series have been proven good. A good lineup indeed for the PS3, but after beating the games there may be a problem, but I'd say the lineup is good enough to lead you into 2008.

Xbox 360 has Splinter Cell which is a pretty good title, and like it's series it'll go high AA. Lost Oddysey is good but I don't know if it'll have much of an impact. Bioshock will be an awesome thriller that PS3 players will miss out on, unless they have a top-notch PC, it's one of the competitors for game of the year definately. Mass Effect will be like KOTR, and I have a feeling this game will be awesome, I'm talking AAA. Plus in the stage demo, the developer says it'll take 40+ hours to finish, which is longer than all the titles in your PS3 top 5.

And of course, Halo 3, the system seller, will certainly bring the Xbox 360 to victory.

Nuff said, 2007 is Xbox 360's time (not including Wii).

We can't discuss on 2008 because there's games unannounced for both platforms.

Man, there was never a Halo 2 MP vs. UT2k4 thread, because no one really cared for UT2k4 outside the PC arena.

But ever since UT3 is coming to all consoles, it's as if everyone's been absolutely familiar with the UT series all along.

UT 2k4 is quite possibly my most favourite MP FPS on the PC, and the only reason I continued to play it after I stopped playing Halo 2 was because I didn't have XBL.

I have a feeling I'll be playing Halo 3 way more this time around though.

But I do live off upbeat tempo musicand Flak fire, or Biorifle goo.

Should I get the $200 Xbox 360 add-on HD-DVD player? It basicly lets me watch HD-DVDs correct? Or should I just add in $300 and get a PS3 where I can still watch movies using Blu-Ray Discs, and for that extra $300 it's a whole new console too. I just don't see a good reason to spend $200 on the HD-DVD player.

I will be getting an Xbox 360 in couple weeks but also wanted a HD-DVD or Bluray player, but the HD-DVD doesn't sound like a good deal when $300 more gets me PS3 for movies/any exclusives I want.

I'd say build the comp. Being able to play UT3 and Bioshock on Max Settings will be nuts. Plus you get to look forward to HL2/Portal/Team Fortress 2.

Chances are you already know someone with an X360, just bum off them for Halo 3 (you know they are going to buy it!)

Nah some of my friends have a PS3 but none have an xbox 360.

For UT3 though, would you say its kind of like Quake 3/4 deathmatch style where you run around killing people using fast reflexes,etc?
