XBLA roundup.

I recently bought some XBLA games, and so here they are:

Fatal Fury Special

Golden Axe

Track & Field

Zume Deluxe

Marble Blast Ultra

I also tried out the demoes for the most recent additions to XBLA:Gripshift and Arkadian Warriors. Both decent, but not worth downloading.

Fare ye well, Amazon.

In early 2004, I discovered a Canadian site named dvdboxoffce.com. They opffered games at really great prices to what I was used to. I then realized what amazon.co.uk could offer, and I was buying from amazon.co.uk's third party sellers for a long time, but now, that has ended, thanks to eBay. Here's why:

  1. I can see what I'm buying on eBay
  2. I don't have to wait up to two weeks to get my stuff, like on amazon
  3. I get what I paid for on ebay
  4. Far greater variety of games on eBay
  5. Better prices on eBay

So, this is quite an epic transition for me, as amazon was my home for a very good while. Things change. Oh well.

Dawn of a new day.

"Dawn of a new day" is my favorite game quote, and I think it works well with the little bit of optimism that springs inside of me after something bad has happened, that the next day, things will change. I don't think Gamespot will die. New writers will come, new community memebers who make excellent content will come, and GS will regenerate eventually. You know, maybe this was the catalyst for change GS needed as a wake up call, and although I greatly mourn the leaving of favorites such as YukoAsho, EightBitWarrior and ffgothic, maybe the community needs to let go of some people, not the aforementioned ones though, but some people who become far too easily annoyed, and who knows, maybe a brigther future is in store.

I'm not leaving Gamespot.

This may be a terrible analogy, but I feel cheated by GS, in a bad relationship that has been going on for months. But, I've spent WAY too much time to give up my account, so I will be staying.

But, I will start a GT account to see what that's like. I'm also going to start my IGN account again, as I like IGN, although I know its a bit junky. I trust them a lot more than GS.

How do we know that every good score just wasn't advertising money thrown at GS? It saddens me deeply, as video game journalism is the path I want to take, and stuff like this has started my resolve to make sure I will never be influenced by big buiness in making my desicions.

You have to learn through hurt sometimes.

Backlog breaking.

After playing a bit of the 4 games I got today, I've decided to just have my Wii hoocked up, and spend some time with that until probs Christmas.

Reason being that I want to get through my last few Wii games, and I have a handful of Gamecube games I got for Christmas....2004 that I MUST complete before the year ends! So, before I buy the whole contents of eBay this Christmas, I want to get through these, which seems like a good idea to get through my backlog.

Where's the hammer? I have some hedgehogs to smack....

I've been playing Sonic & the Secret Rings quite a bit recently, and now I've got to a point where I am just playing it to get my GS review out. That may seem odd, but that's how I work sometimes.

It does have some fun bits, but my god it can get so annoying. The real kicker? That hideous soundtrack. Christ, I'd rather listen to cats drowning then "that" song again, and if you've played the game, you know what I mean.

Back to my prison cell I suppose.....

Update on SMG.

Over 20 stars in. Brilliant. GOTY still.

Carcassonne.....not so much, but hey, it was free, so I'm not complaining as I like it quite a bit.
