@oabu Well, lets at least clarify Online Multiplayer is now a feature for Playstation Plus Subscription and will be required if you want to go and play online.

@d_flek I assume that in the long run. And if the stats and charts are not in their favor because of these features (clearly the majority of the gaming community hates it.) The next Xbox One version could or might remove them altogether in the design.

For me, the problem is not the availability of the internet connection. It's more of a longtime collector goal. How long would I expect devs and people who support this feature to continue running their servers after 1 or 2 console generations has passed? What would happen to the console if they decide to stop the servers after a long time has passed? Will I still be able to go back and play without problems?

Here's the thing. Let's say, I like to collect games. After 1-2 generations of the system. Can I really expect MS to keep supporting the machine to authenticate the games after that long time has passed? Will the servers still be up that long so that I can play the games and console with this feature? What does happen when they suddenly decide to stop the server that authenticates your Xbox One? Then what would happen to my Xbox One games collection?

Not all console machines have backwards compatibility running smoothly that my game collection can be played on other consoles or their successors. Meaning, you'll be forced to play on that specific console. And at the moment, I have at best 3 generations worth and with another console coming can I expect them to support those past 3 generations of games in the current gen consoles?

That response. It's pretty clear they won the day just from that.

Then again, people should have noticed Sony was already poking fun with MS at the beginning. Ever notice the word "Gamer" being emphasized and used more often in this event?

So yeah, if Draconian policies like DRM or Region lock is placed on a PS4 game. You can be damned sure you know who's to blame. Regardless, it wasn't just Sony embracing it's consumers. It also had incredible, if not the best line up for a console release. If it keeps up, you can be damn sure who will be in everyone's living room this holiday.

Online Multiplayer isn't a problem for most. If ever, and surprisingly no one is voicing regret or problems with it. The PS+ reputation and benefits definitely is a factor.

All in all, they pretty much dominated this E3.

@Uiltetwr Players usually flock with the new version when new characters are added. But in a way, Namco does a better job by also modifying character moves as well which effectively makes the next Tekken title unique. If Tekken Revolution doesn't have these, I don't think most people with TTT2 would be devoting themselves with this title. Tag Tournament already has a reputation for it's replay value as proven by Tag Tournament 1 and now by it's successor because of it's Tag Feature and large character roster.

@Strider8009 The dispute with women portrayed in Video Games is foremost a personal opinion. Regardless of how she looks, there are male characters that in a sense are as "sexist" to look at as well (Zangief, Hakan, Marduk). This is actually is more of a fear of being abused. I mean, come on. When a man slaps a woman, it's harassment. But when a woman slaps a man, it's not a problem at all? Really? Is that really fair at all?

The current generation of players seemed to accept the idea of companies should have total control of their titles. People who are outspoken against the on disc locked characters have likely experienced the unlockables feature of old which is rarely used today. I recall DLCs (or as they mentioned Downloadable Content) was designed to fix issues (The single and most positive aspect of the feature. Yet flawed since it gives some companies the ability to rush titles) prolong gameplay and interest with the title. I believe this is but an excuse to squeeze consumers more money. Most DLCs are or can be considered as unlockables with others already on disc. The Unlockable feature has already or can be used as a method that DLCs were supposed to be used for.

It's not to say that DLCs are all bad. They idea seemed to stem from PC games. Get the main game, and we will release the other expansions. But this was twisted since they managed to add MMO's microtransactions with on disc locked content. (therefore DLC = Digitally Locked Content)

@Trail_Mix This is because people believe it as a prelude to most console games. Wherein players will rely too heavily on their servers to play. Almost similar to MMOs and this gives them control of it along with using most of their strategies like Subscription, F2P with microtransactions or like Defiance and Guild War's single purchase access.

When the company decides to pull the plug on these servers you will be unable to play it regardless of how much you have invested with the game compared to purchased physical release console versions from previous generations which doesn't rely on internet connections to play and has online as a feature and choice rather than a requirement.

The comparison is understandable since Consoles have not used these methods until the introduction of online and faster, more stable internet connections in some areas. However, people still maintain a different viewpoint on what is a console and online games. And slowly a number of companies are showing interest of using Cloud services and Online only features like DRM. This could render offline a thing of the past and possibly kill off physical game releases.
