I am guessing there are unlocks which is either purchased through points won in matches or bought in PSN. The unlocks would likely cover characters, costumes and maybe stages, this explains the limited roster at the moment. The microtransactions are definitely designed to keep the Tekken server up like any F2P model. However, I believe people who have already bought TTT2 are the most likely to be hesitant to purchase anything at all and will probably just try the game out to see the features of this game.
@nexuz19 One theory is the events before he goes into a coma which is at Ground Zeroes. Some think the arc is handled by Hayter. Regardless, it does seem that Hayter is teasing something with his online responses.
Has anyone forgotten that there are at least 4 Snakes mentioned in the series with 2 handled by Hayter? Besides, this is THE Big Boss. Not Solid Snake, the character which is most connected with Hayter. Although the character had been handled by Hayter in his younger years. As time moves on, it's more of a better move to have a different VA for an aging Big Boss. Especially as the story is nearing the Outer Heaven event. This in turn gives them both individuality and uniqueness with each other. Even MGS4 had a different VA for Big Boss.
I believe Konami, knows how important Hayter is to the community and lore of Metal Gear as a whole. They wouldn't just brush off Hayter after all his work. There seems to be a catch to all this. Even Hayter seemed to be continuously teasing something with his responses online and not just some sour grape comments. This is Kojima after all. And you know how he likes to play his mind games.
Microsoft was been under fire for their Privacy policy around the late 90's - early 2000's with their Windows OS. Been playing safe throwing personal data around since that time so the idea of people spying online or from any machine isn't new to me.
For me, movies like this are just using the names of the brand it was based on just to get people interested in it. It's common that after people are done watching it, they will start questioning it if it was at least true to the brand. With a game like Need for speed which rarely has a main character revolving around it unlike Shepard from Mass Effect or Marcus from Gears of War. They will have a better and easier time to make this without having such constraints. In the end, It will probably be just another racing movie slapped with a popular name to attract and get people to watch it.
Hope the Base building and world that made Xcom popular is in here. Since I am pretty sure people or the XCom fans will be looking for that and not just a straight forward FPS.
So yeah, it's not just Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. A lot of games are doing this so I agree and I actually practice it. Depending on the title, I wait for a better version.
