" ... a multiplayer-focused, always-online Xbox 720 exclusive"

Well, sounds like a MMO to me.

@Blizzard_suck It's funny that you actually created that account right now to bash Activision Blizzard. It's the DRM right? I hate that damn feature.

@Mojira7 That always online feature is just an excuse to monitor your game. Pirates had managed to bypass that in a few days or months. It just hurts the actual consumers. It's also an excuse for them to use that Auction House.

@TheWatcher000 It's likely based for the idea that it can be playable without the always online feature. Still, it's too early to even judge the game at the moment if it's even worth it.

Well they did have experience from porting their PC game to consoles before. (ex: Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2)

@Ayato_Kamina_1 While I was initially excited of it's announcement. Activision Blizzard's move for always online really turned me off for most of it's current games. Which is sadly, two of it's mainstream titles. After which any supposed interest for their current game is gone until they actual do something about their always online policy.

This announcement was actually a surprise and unexpected at this time. To be fair, it's not the first time they ported their games for consoles. (Ex: Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2). Still, I have yet to find, see or even hear anything that could make them get me back to their titles.

Every time I hear about Online DRM or DLCs. I always ask one simple thing. How long can they keep those servers up? How long will the item, which I have purchased be available? Can I still play or get them when they decide to shut the servers down? Well, this pretty much gives me an idea of what will happen if this trend continues.

The first time I hear about Online DRM is from the Assassins Creed PC release. It had problems and became my groundwork for all DRM based titles like Silent Hunter even Diablo 3. At first, I was pleased of the announcement but the mere online always feature turned me off.

I never looked back again.

Can they also keep these servers up? I know some games can maintain them for a long time. But those games have relatively have lower specs required and can be managed easily. But for a single player game of the current gen to be treated as a multiplayer title or worse as an MMO just by requiring players to always play online? That's just wrong. I have a collection that I can pretty much guarantee that will be with me in my lifetime all in their entirety with no DLC or Online always requirement.

I ask then if they can keep up the ever changing PC specifications, from the OS to the Hardware. This feature only proves that it hurts the PC industry more than protect it.

Translation: "We believe that this IP is still popular so we will continue to create new ways to make the players purchase more from this IP instead of just microtransactions and DLCs."

We didn't call them DLCs in my day. We called them unlockables. And every single thing I wanted in a console game is paid for in full. (Unless it was indicated that the game will have follow ups like the .hack and Xenosaga series. Which are not in anyway, a map pack or expansion)
