Does it matter if i've not played a Max Payne game yet? Will I get the new story in this one?

Think i'll do the final add on GT IV or get Red Dead Redemption instead. Looks too familiar and graphically does not look like a leap forward either. Obviously Gamespot is where I go to know which games to buy but i'm not getting this till it is in the bargain basement. Great review as always Carolyn (all the Carolyn haters need to grow up!
