@Atzenkiller: It's not always about making the $2.5B back to put in the bank, MS has more cash than they know what to do with. They are making their money work for them. The IP is still worth $2.5B if MS wanted to sell it to recoup the cash. Now they are making more money from Minecraft yearly than they would have from interest earned from the $2.5B cash.
I'm very skeptical of their 1st party growth, MS have shown they don't like supporting studios without a franchise they can milk. Phil has said he considers 2nd party deals to be the same as 1st party stuff, it's not the same as a new 1st party studio owned by MS imo.
Will any new studios actually have the freedom to create any game or new IP they want? Or will they be given a single franchise created by another developer like their other studios?
Why do people keep asking if every Battlefield or Battlefront game will have dedicated servers? They have to, you can't have modes with 40 players and vehicles running around using P2P networking.
@cannotfindausername: I think there's a BF2 article on Eurogamer that answers that, says they are ditching the blue vehicle icons for something else, they mentioned a resource system. Haven't had a chance to read the article myself, was just discussing it with some one who had.
@videogameninja: It says MS reserves the right to block users who abuse it from using the feature, thus they can only ruin it for themselves and not all of us.
