@nl_skipper: Thing is there is laws against drunk driving and racial profiling. And I'm not saying talking about it is a bad thing. I just think it is as pointless as complaining about the weather.
@nl_skipper: Well I guess I'm just stuck not seeing the big picture then. I'll worry about things that affect me like paying the rent, and you can worry about internet harassment.
@nl_skipper: That's just it what do you mean by addressed. I'm not disagreeing with you that such behavior is disgusting. But the problem is what can be done other than extreme censorship? And when censorship starts who gets to decide when it ends?
I would have to disagree that it is bad as having a bully punch you in the gut and take your money, because unlike the real life bully the victim can ignore the troll. Unless it is having personal private info let out than it can be ignored. Once it reaches that level it is a hacking, or cyber attack that the police should investigate, but unless it reaches that degree it's fruitless to get upset about it.
@nl_skipper: It became a battle when they cast the first stone. Remember last year the whole mob of SJWs declared gamers to be a dying breed of sexist assholes. Yeah that's when it became a battle.
@nl_skipper: Even though I know quite well that insults, threats, and general nastiness abound on the web, I really can't see it as a REAL issue. If people just grew a pair and ignored the trolls they'd go away or at least be less abundant. Events like these just let the trolls know that people see them.
Plus what could an event like this ever accomplish? Realistically what would change? Unless the internet starts hardcore censorship events like these are totally meaningless.
