okay i found out what the problem was....i had an ide dvd burner and everything else was sata...the technologies werent compatable and thats why vista was having problems installing into the harddrive

yeah but it was detected in the bios so wouldnt that mean its not dead?

im not installing xp im trying to install vista..and i think the connections are good...how do i know if its dead? also i tried to install vista again and it detected the drive. It started to copy the files then an error message came up : (

why does it have to be ide why not sata...since its a sata drive

you would think the hard drive would already come with the drivers installed...since its a freaking harddrive and can store it in itself !!! im very frustrated

lol you guys kinda strayed from the topic didnt you...well guess what my gfs uncle came over today and helped me build it..and i had a few minor problems with fan connections and videocard power...but now it works...but i have a new problem haha...im trying to install the OS and it wont detect my stupid drivers even though the bios lists the driver ..idk what to do

its a 500 gb western digital 16mb cache
