I'm thinking about forming a union for refuge from the metal elitists. So anybody who is fan of either of those genres, comment me here and I'll send you an officer request. And for those of you who don't know what metalcore is...
Wikipidia states that metalcore is an umbrella term used to describe fusion genres that incorporate elements of the hardcore punk and heavy metal genres. The term is a portmanteau of heavy metal and hardcore punk. The term took on its current meaning in the mid-1990s, describing bands like Earth Crisis, Deadguy and Integrity.[3] The earliest of these groups, Integrity, began performing in 1989.[4] Metalcore is distinguished from other punk metal fusions by its emphasis on breakdowns:[5] slower, intense passages conducive to moshing.[6]
It also states that screamo is a genre of music which predominantly evolved from hardcore punk, among other genres, in the early 1990s. The term "screamo" was initially applied to a more aggressive offshoot of emo that developed in San Diego in 1991, which used short, chaotically executed songs which grafted "spastic intensity to willfully experimental dissonance and dynamics,"[4] often with a political message. In the early 2000s, the genre name began to describe a different, slower and less dissonant style that borrowed from alternative rock. The term's application to the "second wave" is controversial among fans and practitioners of the earlier style.[5] One musician observed that the term "has been kind of tainted in a way, especially in the States".[6]
Famous examples of metalcore nowadays include August Burns Red, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, Killswitch Engage, etc.
Famous examples of screamo nowadays are Underoath, Alexisonfire, Thursday, Senses Fail (?), Blindside, etc.
So who's with me!?!?!?
