[QUOTE="DanielDust"][QUOTE="bonafidetk"][QUOTE="bb2945"] Why is that game supposed to be so good? It's Diablo 2's successor because it's the best RPG out there, but it doesn't actually have something to do with the diablo series.

Torchlight has everything to do with the Diablo series. Torchlight is made by the best part of the Diablo 1 and 2 development team. Its the nearest thing you will get to a true Diablo 2 sequel.

2 guys is not a team, it's two guys.

Does it actually have anything to do with the original two games? Diablo 3 must be it's own masterpiece, but naturally one would think it should have a direct connection unless it's not a true sequel. I suppose if Diablo 3 is just a stand alone story all on it's own. Could Torchlight really have any direct connection just based on that? I see Torchlight 1 and 2 are supposed to be sequels.

I am currently attempting to download Torchlight II. I have 2hrs to go, and I'm less than half way through the download (That should give you an idea how slow my connection is). Will this even work after I have completed this initial download is anybody's guess. After that I may see if I have any luck on the Diablo 3 Starter's Edition download.

What does it mean to be a new ip? I would get Dishonored out of those two. I might get XCOM Enemey Unknown too. Is that the same type of game as RE 6 and Dishonored?

LoG-Sacrament
IP is a marketing buzzword eagerly adopted by gamers who listen to developers talk about their games like stock reports. it stands for Intellectual Property. in video gaming, new IP's are games that don't belong to an established series. call of duty is not a new IP because there are multiple call of duty games.

sounds gay to me, but that's the industry I guess. I want to try out being a mage in Dishonored. ;)

Buy Torchlight 2 if you want a good dungeon crawler. Its Diablo 2's true successor anyway, not Diablo 3. You can also play it offline.

very good to hear that much at least. sounds as if you don't need that much bandwidth to run the game. how does it compare to playing NBA Live online on the PS2? I know that you need a very fast internet connection for that to work well. really, my internet is too slow right now, but I will be upgrading in a month's time to a much better modem. Then I may try the Diablo 3 Starter edition, but I don't know where I can find a disk to try it out. How would that work? you can only install the game one time or something like that?

Multiplayer = CO - OP, a 5 year old would understand the concept, I have no idea what you're rambling on about + the internet is full of information on Diablo 3 another sign that you're straight up trolling, not understanding the most fundamental reason for multiplayer (FUN) is yet another sign of trolling

Yes I looked it up, and along with the information you all have added, I kind of know more about it. But I can still say they should not do that. It's hard enough to start using a new PC.

the game is designed to be played with 2-4 people. All the code for the game is server-side, playing offline doesn't work. What you seem to not know is that the campaign IS the entire game. Whether you play alone or in a group, its the same game/campaign, it's just desinged around working in a group.

Overall, the game is pretty terrible IMO, I got one run out of it and deleted it off my harddrive. If you want a game similar to this type, get torchlight 2

So that makes it like a game that is streaming on my computer. I'm not really familiar with why they have that, just so that you don't need to install as much data on your PC, but that doesn't make sense, so I guess it really is just for DRM, which is beyond me how they would keep players online just for that. Their the only ones who are doing that. I'll probably just stick with my PS3 if I don't feel like my internet is up to the task. If you are supposed to play with 2-4 people that must also play a role because they only have one mouse on the PC. Maybe that's what I'm missing along with the camppaign.

Let me give you the best advice of your life regarding Diablo III:

1. Open your trashcan
2. Insert Diablo III inside
3. Close your trashcan
4. Get Torchlight II
5. No problem, glad I could help :)

Justforvisit
That one doesn't require internet access, so maybe I'll give it a chance. Also , why are there only about 3 threads showing up on all of the gamespot forums?

Can you tell me anything about the single player campaign? that's what the game is mostly about right? I'm confused about why you would be online for that. It's how they made the game, right? There's no point in requiring internet access just in order to prevent piracy. they want you to trade items in their online store. that makes me think there has to be something more about other players playing in the same world as you are in. Then they can just come and kill you anytime. They just want you to play multiplayer right and the single player campaign is almost nothing. then I might not get the game, but I am still curious about the game, and haven't really seen anything about it in the usual sites.

it's pretty strange to hear that the single player campaign isn't any good. that's kind of why I would buy any game in the first place. basically now I'm wondering if there even is a single player campaign or if it's more like building up against other players through group rankings and such. there have to be cpu bosses and stuff like that right? I've only seen a brief glimpse of an old Diablo, so that's why I don't really know what it is like. I've been plaing offline on Ps3.
