@Hammershock6: At least with DX12 they can actually work together (if the dev enables it).

This has got to be the worst console generation ever, right?

The only games that perform well are remasters from the last gen. I'm so glad I got back into PC gaming a few years back.

@xshinobi: It seems that UWP "apps" still can't take exclusive fullscreen. I'm not sure what's up with the lack of V-Sync but it looks like the 30 Lock will do the same thing for lower end systems that are hitting between 30 & 60 & getting a lot of tearing. If they don't disclose the anti-aliasing then it's it's probably FXAA which most agree makes things look pretty fuzzy. In a normal game you could force a different kind of AA through the Nvidia Control Panel (not sure about AMD options) but because it's an "app", you won't be able to do that.

The word is that UWP apps can't utilise SLI either. I'm keen to try this game but there's no way I'm buying it if I can't get the performance out of the hardware I've paid for. The Windows Store is a pretty terrible way to buy games at the moment, I might give it a try if they fix all these issues.

@Mirimon78: Yeah, that's why I said only if they sort out the Windows Store nonsense. I absolutely will not buy the game if they don't let me use both my gfx cards & utilise my G-Sync monitor.

To be fair it will still probably hit 60fps even if they have forced V-Sync. One GTX970 will struggle to hit that framerate at ultra settings though, which is why I bought two. If MS doesn't enable SLI then no sale.

@skiggy34: Um... what? I never said anything about PS4. I said I'll probably buy it on PC.

@Schwah: I think VR is a pretty exciting prospect but the first gen of any new technology will always have a few problems. You may be one of the bold few who is willing to pay the "early adopter tax" both in terms of price & just generally in a product that hasn't been tested by the mass market, but I think the general public will take a little while longer to catch on.

Personally I've chosen to invest in a 165Hz G-Sync 1440P monitor rather than a VR headset. I'd rather work towards having the best experience possible in an established medium than use that same money towards an emergent medium for gaming that hasn't had all the bugs worked out yet.

I'm definitely keen to give VR a try though. I did the roller coaster demo with the original Rift dev kit but it sounds like they've made a lot of improvements since then.

Great video. I play a lot of games & I don't want them to all be the same so diversity is great. It's good to see diversity in not just the creators of games but also the people out there analysing & talking about them.

@dexda: Maybe you haven't played anything on a high end PC recently but there are a number of key details that are immediately noticeable. First off, the textures were pretty lacklustre. Have a look at the textures on the jacket of the player-character. It's possible that the PC port will be terrible but if they're in any way competent, they should at least have made the game with high res textures that they can then downscale.

Danny did mention that these games look rather "flat" on stream so perhaps it's a little unfair to compare this footage to other PC games that I've played but that doesn't change the fact that I could instantly tell that it was a console version. If you're wowed by these graphics, great! If you're wowed by the $5 steak at your crappy local restaurant, great. Just don't ever try an expensive steak or look at a game on a high end PC because it just may ruin it for you.

It sucks for the devs that because they had to take money from Microsoft to make the game, they can't really go on record saying the Xbone is an underpowered machine that can't handle their game. Instead they have to come up with creative ways of making the game look good & even more creative ways to explain why they can't get better performance.

More important than the resolution is the framerate. The fact that they had to sacrifice both is pretty damning for the outdated underpowered hardware that sits inside your game box.

Provided they make a decent PC port & MS sort out their Windows Store nonsense, I'll enjoy this game at 1440P with probably around 90fps going by my experience with similar looking recent titles. If the only way to play this game was on the potatobox then I simply wouldn't.

This looks pretty cool. I'll buy it on PC if they sort out their Windows 10 Store issues. If I can make use of both of my video cards & my 165Hz G-Sync monitor, I'll be happy. If there are artificial reasons forcing V-Sync or non-exclusive fullscreen, I'm out.
