I find it interesting how people talk about loot progression as "RPG mechanics".
As I've got into tabletop roleplaying recently, I've been thinking more about the RP in RPG. Leveling up, gaining sweet loot & new abilities has long been a staple of D&D & other rulesets while dice rolling is the part that makes it a game, not simply friends telling each other a story. However the roleplay, putting yourself in the shoes of another character, choosing to act how they would rather than what you, the player might think is optimal is the real thing that sets it apart from any other game with dice or cards.
The gear progression system in Injustice 2 definitely looks cool & I might just pick it up when it comes to PC but I wouldn't describe it as RPG-like in any way. Loot boxes that you buy with real or in-game money are gambling - not roleplaying.
As someone who enjoys single player games & can't be bothered investing the effort to get good enough to compete online, the gear progression is actually appealing.
I prefer straight up loot unlocks though, not gambling with loot crates. Microtransactions are just something I'll never touch but I can't trust that the devs haven't messed with the pacing to tempt players into spending more cash.
This looks like it might be fun but I'll wait for a sale when I can get all the characters for a reasonable price.
@Dragon_Nexus: I never even heard about a 4th book! Guess I need to keep up with the literary world a little bit instead of just video games.
If they're going to make movies based on bad source material, maybe they should do a crossover with 50 Shades where Lisbeth shows up & murders everyone.
@rawkstar007: When That Dragon, Cancer came out, I remember reading a comment on this site saying that the developers were monsters - how could they make a game that would make people feel sad? With ignorant opinions like that, clearly we do need to have the conversation.
Seems like you could have ordered the show better. You already addressed the title at the beginning but then kept bringing up comments about the same thing instead of moving forward & exploring some more interesting & thoughtful opinions.
While running at Ultra settings might be good for comparing benchmarks among a range of GPUs, it doesn't really fit the purpose here. Turn down a few settings & see if it can run at 60fps with a bit of tweaking if you want to test it's viability.
@topgun182@shaundewey: Sarcasm was set to maximum.
I just think it's funny that as soon as somebody has a different opinion, they get called names like "casual". It's much easier to find a reason to dismiss people's opinions than to actually engage with their ideas in real debate.
