Racing games are always great to show off graphics & framerates. I wouldn't put too much stock in the 4K 60fps thing but if it can hit that framerate at 1080P in most games, that's still a huge improvement.
I'm looking forward to graphics improving overall in games. I play on PC but the rising tide lifts all ships.
There's a simple program to make it run borderless fullscreen or for SLI you need to run SpecialK & enable SLI through Nvidia Inspector. The game is locked to 60fps & I never drop below that with two 970s.
Platinum have released a statement thanking players & acknowledging issues but it's pretty disappointing that they haven't even released a patch to make the game run in fullscreen this many weeks after launch. Relying on modders should not be a business practice.
@rikku45: Yeah, they did say that after Witcher 3 was released.
I think they're definitely done with that trilogy but there's plenty of room for a prequel or even telling a story that doesn't involve Geralt. It's an interesting world with rich lore & it would definitely be cool to explore it in another time period through a different set of eyes. I would never want to see them limited to making Witcher games forever if they have other creative idea in their hearts though. It may come back in a few years but let's see what happens with Cyberpunk 2077 first.
Last week they were like, "yeah, we'd maybe do another one" & all the gaming sites were like, "Another Witcher Confirmed!", now they're getting more clicks with, "So... Not Actually Confirmed".
CDPR are great & I'm looking forward to Cyberpunk. If they want to do a Witcher prequel at some point then that's great but they're only one studio - it's going to come at the cost of something else. I love all the Witcher games but I want to see what else they can do as well.
@kaminobenimizu: Yeah, I haven't really seen to much in the way of glitches. It suck that you're having such a bad time with it though.
I've seen people standing with their feet halfway through the floor & I encountered one group of cutscenes that froze & stuttered on every scene change but it's been mostly smooth for me. I hope they're fast & frequent with their patches. EA should have the budget to have some good people on call for this sort of thing & using Frostbite across all their games means they don't have an excuse for not having figured out the engine yet.
Everyone loves to jump on the hate bandwagon. Probably most of the negative comments here are from people who haven't even played the game.
I decided to pick it up a few days after launch & I don't regret it. The dialogue isn't the greatest ever but so far it has all the hallmarks of a Bioware game. The menus could really do with an overhaul but it runs smoothly & looks pretty great on PC.
I'd love to try this game but a) PC is best waifu & b) I heard the word, "grind" way to much in that review.
I know grind seems to be a staple of JRPGs but 30+ hours into Nier: Automata I haven't needed to grind at all. I can appreciate a lengthy game with a tonne of content but if I hit a point where the game slows to a grind, I usually get tempted by other games.
I don't want a free trial. I want to know the bugs are fixed & performance is smooth.
I was really looking forward to Mafia 3 so it was a big disappointment when it launched in a such a poor state. If they've been working on DLC & not fixing the game, I'll be even more disappointed.
SLI scales well. I set it to Ultra with shadows down one step because I know that would give me a solid boost. At 1440P two 970s give me 70+fps most of the time running around in the open world. Cutscenes sometimes drop down to 55 when there's a lot of depth of field blurring going on.
Facial animations aside, this is a beautiful game with nice textures & great lighting. Any open world will always have some framerate variance depending what you're looking at & the game is a little slow with closing menus but the game runs smoothly when it needs to.
