@Bsgifford05: Are you trying to tell me how to calculate the time to somewhere else in the States? I'm not talking about some timezone nextdoor where I have to add an hour.

EDT is GMT-4 (I had to Google that & I won't remember it because I almost never need to know) & I'm GMT+12 (I know that one because I live here). Those are the numbers I need to do the maths.

Can you give GMT times? If you're going to write an article about "exactly" when the game unlocks, I shouldn't still have to figure out how to convert that to my timezone.

@dorog1995: If it was built from the ground up for DX12, it could theoretically have better graphics & physics but this will purely be a performance thing. For me, the DX12 update to Rise of the Tomb Raider didn't even make any difference in performance... it looks as though DX12 has had a pretty lacklustre start.

@ghosts4ever: Because they're subjective opinions.

Also because The Witcher 3 is an amazing game that puts effort into the details that so many other games skip over. Major sidequests are almost indistinguishable from main quests & even small sidequests have interesting characters & never simply repeat a whole quest (unlike soo many other games). Plus I actually enjoyed the combat. It requires tactics & patience on harder difficulty levels & really requires the player to make use of all Geralt's abilities. If you thought it sucked, you may have just been on too low a difficulty.

MGSV was great except that it wasn't finished. The reason that game got a 10 is because reviewers went to a boot camp where they maybe got 40 hours play time & didn't get to the repetitive parts. It did however have a lot of great mechanics that tied in to each other. Skilled soldiers in the field could be Fultoned out which then feeds into the progression of upgrades - this incentivises the player to create additional challenges for themself that have meaningful payoffs, not just a collectible checklist like so many other games.

As for, "why does this only get an 8?" Do you think it deserves more? You haven't played it yet. Stop arguing about what this game "deserves" when all you've seen is the hype pieces & now a couple of reviews. If you like this kind of game more - great. Not everyone has to agree with you. Some people like flight sims & have no interest in a stealth shooter that's heavy on the story, if you saw them here complaining that this deserves a 2 while MS Flight is the only true 10, you'd laugh them out of the room. Just because The Witcher or MGS aren't your jam, it doesn't mean they didn't succeed in creating compelling gameplay for people who do enjoy those types of games.

...This is why scores are dumb.

@Xirtahm: Scores are just dumb these days. People should pay attention to the content of the review, not a single character at the end. It gets them hits though, people coming back to argue about why this 8 is totally different to that other 8.

@groowagon: I just barely got a passing mark in Physics at school so I'm not going to argue over numbers but basically it works like this:

2 filtered fans at the front sucking air in at a fixed RPM, 1 fan space at the back (although it's actually two fans, one either side of a radiator, hooked up to the CPU water cooler). Then one more intake fan at the bottom that ramps up with temp so that the rear fan doesn't create negative pressure when the CPU heats up. It's a balanced airflow, but leaning towards positive pressure rather than negative, relative to the air outside the case. The theory is that negative pressure will draw in dust through all the tiny spaces in the case while slight positive pressure will prevent it.

You can argue numbers if you like but my case has very little dust, unlike previous builds where I just tried to suck out the hot air without considering what the cool air might be drawing in with it.

@Chernnunos: Or how about not hyping everybody up with an incomplete game that is subject to change?

I much prefer it when the promotion starts a few months from launch rather than years out. Getting hyped up about a game you can't buy doesn't help anyone - customers or devs.

Having positive pressure in the case keeps things pretty dust free but I really should stay on top of the dust that builds up on the desk & monitors.

Cable management is more an aesthetic thing than a performance boost though. LTT did a video showing that even stuffing a case full of junk barely impacts temps. https://youtu.be/YDCMMf-_ASE

I saw the promo video but I didn't think they actually built it.
