It's nice to see MS backtracking when they see they have made a mistake.

I like to call them out on their missteps as much as the next guy but you've gotta give them credit when they turn around & do the right thing. This is a pretty good move considering Tim Sweeney's comments that have emerged over the last week or so.

Quantum Break always looked interesting to me but I have a few of my own minimum requirements before I'll buy a game: must be SLI compatible so that I can maximise those nice graphics & visual effects they tout; must be G-Sync compatible, I paid for nice hardware, don't try to stop me from using it. As a relatively short game, I'm not keen on paying full price either. I know they've made some improvements with the UWP platform but I don't trust them anywhere near enough to pay NZ$109.95 (or over US$80!) to find out if their platform works.

@smokerob79: I got genuinely annoyed every time it asked me to "tap" the screen.

8 hours for an entire playthrough of Civ? What are you doing Mike, because 8 hours could maybe be halfway?

@Triton: I would love to see someone mod the game & just make it a thousand times better. Not likely but it would be hilarious.

@blueinheaven: The game is mostly about discovering new stuff. Seeing new things. Adding more detail means more things to see.

Completionist's nightmare.

It would be cool to come across another planet where somebody has recreated the Nazca Lines or cut crop circles into the landscape but the likelihood of even coming across another human player's tracks at all is tiny. Yet all these planets you are "discovering" & naming seem to be filled with outposts & traders. It makes things more interesting in terms of gameplay but it kind of breaks the feeling of this big empty universe where life is scarce & you, the player are the first one seeing all of these things.

Another thing I don't like is that it falls into the trap of every game that has gone before where there are desert planets & jungle planets etc. Every planet seems to have it's own biome unlike Earth where all these things can exist within a single continent.

It's easy to pick things apart though, it looks like a cool game but it's basically Minecraft meets Elite Dangerous. I'm sure plenty of people will find something they like but it looks like a game I would get bored of within a week or two.

@WingChopMasta@the_hunger: The question is, does it become tedious before you even get to the centre of the galaxy? Does it become tedious after 3 planets or does it become tedious after 100 hours?

From what I've seen, it might be worth a few hours of fun but not worth full price for me. I'll keep an eye on how the game progresses & decide whether it's worth picking up on sale. Gotta see how well it performs on PC too.

It's possible they'll do a director's cut as a Blu-Ray release with a few more violent scenes but was filmed to be PG-13 from the start which was a mistake. I haven't seen it yet but the theme of the movie deserves an adult audience rather than a watered down kiddie film.
