Well that's true, and even this article's conclusions are based on what we know now...there's still time until the generation switch will happen, so until then I'll be playing some Gothic 2 and 3 :p
I think the main problem is how you need to let your friend sign in with your account, rather than his own...which means that if you sell your disc to a complete stranger, and (it goes without saying) you don't supply the stranger with your account info, then it's useless, so it kills the opportunity of reselling
The only game I followed from that list of pirated games was Starcraft 2...and the most common reason for pirating or using pirated material for it was the lack of LAN...
Starcraft 2 is a great case of developers not wanting to provide a feature for the game, that otherwise made the franchise popular...so I understand the pirating SC2...it's a great game otherwise and worth paying for IMO, except for the lack of LAN
It's not Sony's fault...it's the media's...if they would have new questions, then perhaps there would be some new info. But this media is sensationalist, so if the number of clicks can be raised by such articles that bait the console fanboys, then it's okay for them.
So no...it's not like Sony is trying to bring back attention...E3 is coming, that's enough from their perspective
