Lighting is actually a very intense process, so it's hardly irrelevant, and lag would really slow down a game if it would affect lighting...
Anyways...I don't think MS mentioned Cloud BECAUSE PS4 is better...I think it's backwards...meaning that ps4 is better, because MS opted to integrate Cloud as an alternative for resources...otherwise the Xbox would be around the same level as the ps4
This Cloud-oriented approach is something that has been increasingly popular in the world of the leading software developers, so frankly I'm not surprised that XBox is jumping on the Cloud bandwagon
You need stable and fast internet to achieve this...I don't think developers should design with this in mind just yet...I think it would be good if they would end up stretching the limits of the actual hardware, and then focus on the imaginary resources...
It would be a pretty good idea though, to put all the non-gaming stuff on the cloud, or to have those get those resources from there, and let the machine focus on games
What I also found a bit odd is that she said that other forms of media have bigger impact with their storytelling than gaming. The interactivity that games provide have a much bigger impact then any other form of media storytelling.
In the Witcher 2 for example, you know that if you choose humans, instead of elves, then it will have a major impact on how the story is told. And there are other choices that affect politics, social issues, etc...and it's quite a dilemma for the gamer IMO.
Furthermore that same interactivity is what pushes the boundaries of storytelling, because it must be balanced with gameplay. So it's even more difficult to write the story, then with other form of media.
I agree with her when it comes to games in general, but to be fair, there are genres that are more suited for storytelling than others...before leaving the industry she should try working on an RPG....
But it doesn't seem like she is passionate about gaming, so good luck to her in other media
