@acorne31: Agree to disagree but understand that my comment is meant to address the fact that pretending they are not a competitor when expecting ports from the exact same developers who profit from Microsoft and Sony's hardware is a stupid way of thinking. We can "compare" or "not compare" specs between the big three all we want, you'd best believe Ubisoft, Bethesda, Rockstar etc ARE making said comparisons for future iterations of their flagship games.
@Daian: The only way I can see them pulling this off again is if somehow they can convince the strong handheld install base to buy a switch. 3DS has 60 million units sold to date and Nintendo's move in creating a console/handheld hybrid was probably a move towards grabbing that audience. I'm positive the 3DS is going to be their last handheld, all their handheld killers like Xenoblade, Pokemon, Fire emblem etc.. These will all probably get moved over to Switch.
I'm sorry, this isn't good enough. Not for a console that already lagged a generation behind. I like Nintendo's company motto "Quality over Performance". However, there just comes a point where being future proof is important. To consider yourself not in competition with PS4/PC/X1 when you expect to be ported the same releases they get? That's an ignorant point of view and plain false. They've put themselves in that company the moment they became a gaming platform.
Games are only gonna get more performance hungry with time, ps4 pro and X1scorpio are already preparing for a 4k/VR benchmark standard. Won't be long before Nintendo becomes a first party only system, which might not be good enough this time around.
@thespicychiken: There's probably a silent majority at play here, remember that only Gamespot sees the back end numbers. That or the administration realized that the only way to meet deadline article quotas with their jounalist staff is to turn GS into a multimedia geek platform. Business sucks.
@solatron: Depends entirely on how much content they produce and whether or not gaming maniacs find esport potential in it. This game is also no longer exclusive to Xbox one so Titanfall 2 will probably have a much larger core fanbase now.
