@TTDog Why is it that because I can read, it makes me a cheerleader? It's not what I can or can't accept, it's what I've seen.
Why can't you accept that console kit utilization is something that happens often in the industry,
It's not a reality check, I'm a pretty rational thinker and analyst, the problem with your "upsell' theory is that they're porting AC3. Arkham City and ME3. That automatically discredits and invalidates your point.
The only "reality check" here is that YOU DON'T HAVE A VALID ARGUMENT.
@Thanatos2k I never said Kotick isn't a terrible person. I never said he hasn't committed a crime in gaming. Of course he has and is a greedy tyrant who is contributing to the destruction of gaming.
But that isn't my point. My point is that you can't call Kotick a criminal for being a good business man. A business man seeks to make money in the most simplistic way possible.
We the consumer nation set the bar in terms of simplicity. The nation influences the approach business men take. Therefor, before pointing fingers you must fix the nation.
If we the nation refused any and all things Cod. Activision would have no choice but to change it's way for our money.
You can't go outside and kill a man then tell the court "not my fault, the Devil made me do it:"
@endorbr Oh and no more ports means no more flaming in forums over which console plays games better. No more flaming means no more buzz, no more buzz means no more spread. No more spread means no more hype. No more hype means less sales....
@endorbr not Necessarily. The quality of distribution would be the same, graphics would be the same. Problems would be similar.
People have 200$ so they spend on A over B that is 300$. Now lets say AB is 300$, people would have to save for AB, and most don't hit that goal at all.
No competition would also cause market growth to stagnate, industry giants would have no reason to port games on better hardware. Games would have no need to look better. Developers would have no reason to work harder. Online service would become harder to manage. Prices would also have no need to be lower.
There are more disadvantages to that scenario than there is good.
@Thanatos2k I'm going to try explaining this once more.... Sigh.... Thanatos... Lets take the greedy tyrant that Bobby Kotick and put him on the hot seat. Take the Cod fanboy who throws a rage fit at him demanding Actvision make CoD the way it was. We let the fanboy leave the studio. What does he do? He goes to the nearest gamestop and gets the latest Cod game then goes home.
What message do you think you're sending Kotick? You're saying it's Kotick's fault that he's exploiting consumer stupidity?
THE PEOPLE CONTROL THE TIDE OF THE INDUSTRY. BUISNESS MEN RESPOND TO THE REACTIONS OF THE CONSUMER Cod's future rest in "YOUR" hands. YOU make the choice on where you fork 60$, THEY DON'T. I stopped buying Cod long ago, if enough people were like me, then maybe we could send a large enough message to Kotick.
@Lordcrabfood I'm an Idiot because I can read? LOOOOOOL!!!!!! You're a real piece of work man.... Weren't you the one insulting my analytical skills earlier? ROFL
Look dude, you wanna flame, I get it and I respect your right to have an opinion but at least make it educated. I don't like fanboys either. However, all you've managed to prove here is that you're far less intelligent than they are. Whats the point man?.... Honestly....
@TTDog Why is it so hard for you to grasp the concept that they had over a year to work with a never before seen Devkit? I want you to google the term "Devkit" and read the wiki link.
3P publishers have an entire console cycle to figure out how to use one. That includes patches that get periodically sent to them to make kits easier to use. That's why 360 games from 2006 have doubled in graphics quality and standard by 2012.
I had a programmer explain the concept to me once, he said: " Writing scripts and programming software for xbox360 is like the mathematical equation of 10. PS3 mathematical equation would be 10.5. Defaulting games at 10 or 11 would be easy, BUT 10.5??????!!!
That's why back in 2006 developers were sending numerous complaints to Sony saying their kits were impossible to figure out with the inclusion of the "cell processor".
Basically, I'm saying this article does nothing to prove that Wii U specs are out of date, specs have minimal to do with how a game is created.
@Thanatos2k They don't "decide when to release games and how much effort to put into them."
The consumer does. The industry reacts to the response of the consumer.
If I open a bakery and get rich selling fresh bread loafs. then one day i decide to sell half loafs per bag rather than full, yet none of my clients seem to care, I'm still making millions, you think I'm gonna go back to selling a full loaf per bag? Same cash, half the effort. You think its my fault?
