hunter1235 @Gamespot, can you please also include the PC in this article? Sure we don't have Assassin's Creed 2 yet, but we have the remaining 5 out of 6 games. Personally, I am a PC gamer and would appreciate it if you could include the PC in this article amongst others. I see it left out more and more often, and after seeing that you included the PC in the last comparison(after being asked to by members of Gamespot), I would have thought you would include it in this one. I hope that's not too much to ask because some games such as Dragon Age truly show the power of the PC and I would like that represented **************************************************************************************** The reason they don't include PC is because a PC can have numerous graphic cards in it that would either make the graphics worse or better. If they use the same graphic cards, RAM, CPU, etc that are in the XBox 360 and PS3 to do the comparison on the PC, they sure. Otherwise, there will never be a fair comparison with the PC hardware. Anyone with the funds can upgrade their PC to have graphics that look better then 3-4yrs old console technology. lol!! Why would anyone compare that?

JacobD1505 I agree. These comparisons aren't really neeeded anymore. We all understand the PS3 can do more...it just depends on the programming skills of the developer....uncharted 2 says it all. ***************************************************************************** Same can be said for the XBox 360. Mass Effect 2 speaks volumn on wha the XBox 360 is capable of and I still don't think it has reached it's full potential yet. Naughty Dog said they pretty much used up 95% of the PS3 power doing Uncharted 2. Every game done on the PS3 can be duplicated on the XBox 360. It may require more disks or HDD space, but it can definitely be done with the right developers who know what they are doing.

There's one bad this about this device. When it goes down for any reason, IT'S DOWN. Which means millions won't be able to playing anything. In the meantime I'll be playing my XBox 360 and PS3 games. Unless I have a power outage, I'll always be able to play those and even if I do, I still have my DS and PSP. lol!! My other concern is price. How much a month or year? ****************************************************************************** @perfect_chao Extinction? rofl PC was never dying, console fanboys.. gotta love em. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No, but they have been losing money for the past 3 years. So the PC gaming market really isn't growing much either. They had over 1 billion in sales in 2005 or 2006 (can't remember) and in 2008 it was like $650-$700 million. Even if you factored in Steam sales and all that crap, they were still down in sales.

You really can't compare PC graphics with console graphics. PC's graphic cards, CPU, RAM, etc can all be upgraded so that the game will look much better on the PC. If you could upgrade the game consoles like you could the PC's, then it would be a fair assessment. Since you can't, it's irrelevant. If you could, it wouldn't be a game console. It's cool that PC's have great graphics, but it's a shame less people are playing the PC version of these games. More people are playing the console version which pretty much means, "Graphics aren't everything when it comes to gaming." For console gamers, it's plug and play. No 5-10 minutes to install the game. No configuring with the sound or resolution. No troubleshooting when the game lags or freezes. ************************************************************************** @lil_z_95 pc is way better than ps3 and 360 but 360 and ps3 the same in most games ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Games look better on the PC, but they sell and play better on the game consoles.

The 360 version is lightly darker in some of the image, but has better contrast. PS3 has better lighting in some of the images, but more jaggies, and it's missing some shadows and objects. Overall the 360 version is slightly better, but not by a huge margin. Both games are still so close, that it won't matter which one you chose.

xgalacticax Lol, it will soon be cheaper than the Wii in US and Europe. Its getting closer. Nice to see Gamespot has started calling the 360 a current gen console after 3 years. ************************************** All the consoles are current-gen consoles now. NEXT-GEN doesn't mean superior hardware. For some reason, hardcore gamers made this definition up for when a new game console was launched. NEXT-GEN simply means, "the next series of game consoles to the market." It never had anything to do with graphics, superior technology or any of that crap. That definition was all made up by hardcore gamers to try to claim some kind of ownage. All 3 console out now are current-gen console. the NEXT-GEN of consoles won't be out until 2011-2012. =============================================== enoslives7 Posted Sep 3, 2008 10:39 am PT microsoft needs to just give up on Japan, they are beating a dead horse.....The world has really seen microsoft take a beating on all fronts these last few years. Bad karma has come full cycle on a company that used to bully and strong-arm their competition. ************************************************ They still own like 85% of the PC market with Windows and Internet Explorer. So they are doing something right. Their Xbox 360 has succeeded the original XBox worldwide. So, I'm not sure what beating you are talking about. The original XBox wasn't successful in Japan, but neither was any other U.S. game console. What other U.S. game console was as successful as the Xbox or Xbox 360 in Japan? Nuff said.

They should have done this over a year ago. I'm still happy that the 360 will end up outselling the original XBox in the end. At least M$ is making some progress. Japan is a very tough market to crack for any American company. M$ will be announcing the U.S. price drops soon I'm sure. =================================================== darknferno12 This has little to do with Japan not buying the 360 because it's American. It's because Japan is very picky, has different taste in games than most, a diminutive variety which Microsoft doesn't really seem to understand. What they need to do is set a base in Japan see whats hood and start from there. ********************************************* Yeah, but it's also because it was made by an American company. If this console was made by Samsung or Mitsubishi I'm sure it would have sold a whole lot better.

stillereize Okay, how about comparing the defective rates between consoles. That's what matters to me. Like my Xbox 360 broke 3 times to my 0 times with PS3. Why don't they mention that or is that just old, old news? ************************************************************************** That's old news and the issue will be resolved by the end of the year. It took almost 2yrs before my XBox 360 bit the dust and I swapped it for a new one. Between that time of having my 360 and my PS3, I had more fun with my 360. Bottomline is you buy a game console to PLAY GAMES and HAVE FUN. Not to worry about when and if it'll break or how well it plays movies in HD. You buy it to play games, period.

There are other websites that did this comparison as well and the results were pretty much the same. Both systems have their pros and cons. There's no need arguing over which system has the best graphics. Both systems are pretty much on par with the other. Just play the games and enjoy them. It's that simple.

Mystoksor @blackface: do even know the hardware difference? The ps3 is better than the 360, but only by a practically negligible margin ************************************************************* Yes, I know the hardware differences. The only advantage the PS3 has is Blu-Ray (storage) and the Cell processor which crunches numbers real fast. The PS3 doesn't had any edge graphically or sound wise. Cow's keeping believe this until the comparisons are made by gaming sites. The PS3 is not better then the XBox 360, so get over it already. It's a better Blu-Ray player, but that's about it.
