Well, that's it for this part of the list. So I'll just leave you guys with this, earlier this week, I per-ordered...

I can't wait!

My #1 Favorite Movie Of All Time Is...

Well, it's finally time! The countdown has come to a close, and it's time to reveal the selection for my #1 favorite movie of all time. And without further delay, my favorite movie of all time is...

Yes, Chinatown. The 1974 film by Roman Polanski starring Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. Thereisn't even a handful ofmovies that I think are perfect on every level, and most of them I'm kind of uncertain about them being perfect or not. Chinatown is the onlyfilm I've ever seen that I think is 100% perfect. There isn't a single noticable flaw about this movie, nor is there anything that Idislike about it. It takes place in 1930's Los Angeles during a long period of drought where water has become a precious source. It centers arounddetective Jake(sometimes known as J.J.) Gittes. One day a woman comes into his office asking him to follow her husband and find out if he's cheating on her or not. When the husband is found dead in an irrigation canal, Gittes gets thrown into a murder mysterythat will change him forever.

Well, that's the end of that. I hope you guys enjoyed the list. And for those of you who missed parts of it, here's a rerun of the whole thing.

Happy Birthday Bruce Springsteen! + Top 50 FAVORITE Movies Countdown #4,3,and 2

Well, I haven't posted a blog in a while, and that's because I haven't really been on GS all that much lately. Sorry, but school is more important. Also Red Dead Redemption, that's been a part of my agenda every day. But i've got two big things to write about today, first off...

IT'S BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN'S BIRTHDAY!

Happy 61st Birthday To My Favorite Songwriter Of All Time

Here's To The Boss

Now I don't have much time today, so instead of my normal routine where I write a mini review of each of the movies on the list, today I'm just gonna list them. I know that that'll make it kind of boring, but I just don't have the time to think of something to write about each of the movies, because seeing as these are my 4th, 3rd, and 2nd favorite movies, I would have a lot to say about them. So instead, I'm just gonna post more pictures of them than usual.

#2:

Top 50 FAVORITE Movies #7,6, and 5

Before I go into my 7th, 6th, and 5th favorite movies, I would just like to update you on the best night of my job which was last night.

For those of you who don't know (which is probably all of you) I sell peanuts at my local minor league baseball stadium. I usually earn about thirty dollars a night seeing as I get paid by how many bags of peanuts I sell per night. Well last night I made the most money that I ever have in one night... 75 dollars. Now that may not sound like much to some of you, but seeing as I'm 14 that's a lot of money. But that's not the best part... I MET BILL MURRAY AGAIN! And this time it wasn't just a simple handshake. Nope, this time I actuallygot him to say a line fromGhostbusters, which was one of the coolest things that's ever happened tome.

Well, enough about that. Let's get back to the movies

#7:

This is easily my favorite Star Wars movie. And that's not to say that the others are bad... well, two of them are, but I just think that this one is superior to the rest. Not because this is when you first meet all the characters or because this movie itself was such a breakthrough in cinema, but because it's just the most fun to watch out of the saga. I don't really know what else to write about this movie because I figure that pretty much everyone here has seen it so... there's my seventh favorite movie of all time.

#6:

I love for things to be gritty and raw. And The French Connection is the perfect example of that in a film. It's about a tough NYC cop named Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle who does everything for a good cause, but does it recklessly. The tagline for the movie Dirty Harry is that you just "set him loose", but I think that that statement applies more to Popeye Doyle. Which is what makes him such a great character, as well as the tremendous performance given by the great Gene Hackman.Everything about this movie feels 100% real. And not justbecause of the gritty way in which it's filmed, but also because all of the actors give very believable performances. For anyone who likes intense crime movies, you're not going to find much better than The French Connection.

#5:

Just like with Lord of the Rings, this counts as all three movies. Now I know that the Toy Story movies are much easier to seperate, but in terms of my all time favorite movies... I can't seperate them. I love all three of them equally and that's never going to change. I honestly don't think that any one is better than the others, they're all perfect movies and the first two are huge parts of my childhood. I honestly don't think that there's any better trilogy in the history of cinema. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Man With No Name, those are all masterful trilogies as well. But you can't top the Toy Story trilogy.

Top 50 FAVORITE Movies #10-8

Yes the time has finally come! We have gone through 39 total movies and have at long last reached The Top 10. With the Top 10 I'll be doing three movies per entry and to end it I'll have one entire blog dedicated to my Number One movie. So lets not waste any more time and take a lookat My 10th, 9th, and 8th favorite movies of all time.

#10:

Well... yeah. This was kind of an obvious choice seeing as the title is also my username. But it might be kind of surprising to some of you that this is only Number 10. But seriously, that's still pretty good. Blazing Saddles is one of those movies that's just kind of made for me. It's a Mel Brooks comedy that satires westerns and Gene Wilder as a lone gunslinger. What more could I ask for? Blazing Saddles is one of the few comedies that gets everything right. I can't really think of any jokes in this movie that aren't affective and don't make me laugh. It's that funny! But not only does this movie satire my favorite movie genre, it also makes fun of Hollywood itself. But that's really only in the climax. There aren't many movies that are this wild and chaotic that really work, but this certainly does and remains one of my all time favorite comedies.

#9:

Ahhh, The Marx Brothers. How I love you guys. I think that if you want a guaranteed laugh, youshould just get any ofThe Marx Brothers' movies and you'll get exactly what you want. But if you want one of the best, then Duck Soup is one of your best options. For those of you who think thatback in the 1930's people didn't havea sense of humor and didn't know comedy, then you clearly haven't seen Duck Soup. You could find all of today's best comedians and get them to have a conversation in a room filledwithpeople who are high, and that still wouldn't be nearly as funny as Duck Soup. The movie itself isactually a lot like Dr. Strangelove. It's asatire of war and nations that are always goinginto war. And it does it very cleverly, butwhile still being a goofy comedy. It also has one of the greatest comedy bits of all time, which is pictured above. I doubt that most of you have seen thisfilm, but I veryhighly recommend it.

#8:

This is my favorite movie of the past decade hands down. It's a lot like Blazing Saddles in the sense that it's a perfect match for me. It's a comedy set during the Great Depression, about three escaped convicts trying to find a treasure and reunite George Clooney's character with his family. This was the first Coen Brothers movie that I ever saw, and it really showed me how those two are modern film geniuses. It's just a sort of feel good movie that just a lot of fun to watch. This is one of the few movies that my entire family loves andeveryoenconsiders it to be one of their all time favorites.Weall go around quoting it and no matter how many times we repeatthe lines, we still laugh. It's just a very fun movie that's both historically significant as well as one of my favorite comedies. It also has one of my favorite musical scenes of all time.

Numbers 7,6, and 5 will be revealed within the next few days.

Top 50 FAVORITE Movies #20-11

Well, were getting close to the top 10. So let's not waste any time with this :D

As far as I'm concerned, there will never be a political satire as good as this one. Dr. Strangelove isn't one of thosesatires where you're just laughingconstantly at how stupid it is, with this you're not really laughing out loud, it's more like internal laughter. You're laughing at the strange irony of the movie as well ashow clever the lines are. It's a different kind of comedy, and I adore itfor that.

#19:

This is kind of the oppositeof Dr. Strangelove in terms of satires. With this movie, it's all about how stupidit is and not at all about irony or real world events. Nope, this is just a big dumb comedy that's bound to make Star Wars geeks such as myself crackup every time. No matter how many times I watch this movie, I laugh nonstop. And that's what a great comedy is supposed to do right?

#18:

I love mystery movies. They always grip me with their dark tones, interesting atmospheres, and engaging soundtracks. In The Heat Of The Night is a perfect example of why I love that genre. It centers around a murder in a small Mississippi town and seeing as this is during the timesof segregation, they blame the first African-American they see. And that man happens to be thetop homicide expert of the Philadelphiapolice department. It's a really gritty, smooth, and intense movie all at the same time, and that's something that I really admire.

#17:

I consider this to be easily the most underrated crime film of all time. It's set during a time that is somewhat ignored by Hollywood. It's about agangster named Rico who's rebellious behavior moves him upon the crime ladder until he hitsthe peak. But as the ways of organized crime such as the mafia begin to take hold, Rico's notoriety begins to fade. It's just one of those movies where it grabs you from the start and you really want to find out how it all unfolds.

Ahh, Alfred Hitchcock. You never cease to amaze me. Vertigo is one of those movies that's kind of scary, but you don't realize that it's scary untilthe movie's over and you sort of run it back through your mind. I think that in terms of cinematography, thisjust mightbe the best. The only that I can think of that may be better is Citizen Kane. But in terms of my personal favorites, Vertigo is superior and deserves the number 16 spot on the countdown.

I want to clarify something here. I DON'T LIKE METAL. I know that it's shocking to find someone who plays video games that doesn't like metal but it's true. However I do love rock music and I've watched dozens of rock documentaries. But my favorite is the "mockumentary" This Is Spinal Tap. For anyone who's watched concert footage or seen a rock documentary, this is the perfect movie for you. It parodies everything in rock music and documentaries andit's just sohysterically funny. But you have to pay attention becausesome of the best jokes are minor details.

#14:

Yeah yeah I know it just came out last year but I just love this movie to death. I think it's one of Pixar's finest creations and it's certainly one of my favorite movies of all time. There's just so much heart in this movie that it's impossible not to like. It's one of the funniest movies of the past decade as well as one of the saddest, and it's an animated movie! That shows how good it really is.

#13:

I mentioned earlier about how In The Heat Of The Night captures everything that's great about mystery movies. Well The Searchers captures everything that's great about westerns. It's about Civil War veteran who visits his brother and while he's there his family is killed and or captured by Native Americans. He and his adopted nephew set out to find the only surviving member of the family, his niece Debbie. This is one of the few movies that I consider to be perfect. I can't think of any flaws whatsoever with this film. It's that friggin' good.

This may surprise some of you, but there was a time when I was obsessed with Indiana Jones. I watched the trilogy all the time and couldn't get enough of it. I still love all four of the movies (yes I liked Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) but not as much as I used to. But all of the movies hold a special place in my heart, and Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the films that turned me into the movie buff that I am today. So if it weren't for this movie, I probably wouldn't even know half of the movie's on this list.

Being someone who lives on the Atlantic coast, I love the beach. And for some odd reason, Jaws doesn't scare me away from the beach but rather makes me want to go to the beach. It just reminds me of summer and how much fun beaches are. It's alsoone of theclosest things to a horror movie that I can tolerate. Besides thosetwo things, I don't really know wat it is about Jaws that makes me love it so much, but on a list of your favorite movies, do you really need a reason?

BlazingCinema Movie Reviews: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, I don't think The World stands a chance.

If hipsters and gamers banded together to conquer the planet, and they were sucessful, then this is what Earth would be like. A dimension of insanity where it's not the least bit abnormal to have superpowers or for people to start fighting in the middle of a bar concert. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is exactly like what I just described. AND IT'S AWESOME! This is just one of those movies where you really shouldn't care about reailty, and all that should matter is just how cool everything that's happening around you looks. It almost makes me wish that we lived in a world where everything was over the top and colorful and people could just start kicking a** out of nowhere. The movie is based on a graphic novel which I know nothing about so I can't really go into detail about that. But what I do know is that the director of this movie also did Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz and it really shows during the action scenes. So I've already stated that Scott Pilgrim is awesome, but what makes it so good?

The Good

  • The cast is great and everyone puts in a good performance
  • A lot of the jokes work really well
  • The movie is visually gorgeous and all of the action scenes are really fun to watch
  • Micheal Cera is really good in the title role and puts in a great performance
  • The soundtrack isgreat and really adds to the movie's vibe
  • Everything is done over the top in the most entertaining way possible
  • There are lots of clever video game jokes
  • The cinematography is some of the best I've seen this year
  • The characters are well thought out and interesting
  • It's a great popcorn movie to go see with a bunch of friends

The Bad

  • The beginning is a little too crazy and it takes some time for you to getusedto the movie's surreal nature
  • While there arequite a fewgood jokes, a lot of the dialogue is pretty weak
  • It's more of a teenager/young adult movie, so if you're over 30, I don't think that this will be the most entertaining experience (I don't mean to offend anyone with that)
  • It drags a little towards the end and you're kind of hoping that it will just end it and get it over with at points

The Ugly

  • No ugly with this one!

So overall, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a really fun movie that's visually stunning and is bound to entertain audiences... but it's not really for everyone.

Letter Grade: B+

P.S. I know this was kind of a short review, but my first of school is tomorrow and I didn't really have a whole lot of time to write this.

Top 50 FAVORITE Movies #30-21

Well, I don't really have anything to report. so I'm just gonna get straight to the list :D

#30:

Well as I mentioned when I had Yellow Submarine on here at number 37, I am a huge Beatles fan. And I think that one of the best things that The Fab Four ever did (and that's saying a lot) was the 1964 comedy entitled A Hard Day's Night. This movie really showed the band's zany and comedic side, and it's what really carries the movie. Sure the musical numbers are great but it's incredible how smart The Beatles were with comedy.

#29:

How could anyone not like this movie? It's the ultimate feel good movie where you can't help but laugh nonstop. It's great journey through history that just makes you smile. It also has one of my favorite movie scenes of all time, being the scene where Forrest is on the talk show with John Lennon.

PLEASE READ WHAT I WROTE HERE

I'm probably gonna take a lot of flack for this, but to be honest, I love this movie. I love the acting, the characters, the action scenes, the mystery, the cinematography, everything.I think it's hands down the best adaptation of Holmes as well as the most entertaining. I have to admit at this point that I do have a bit of a Robert Downey Jr. man-crush. And for all of those people who say that this is destroying the image the Sherlock Holmes, have you ever even read a Sherlock Holmes story? This is the most loyal Sherlock Holmes adaptation there is. He was a quirky guy who knew martial arts and stayed up until three in the morning playing his violin. Anyone who doesn't like this movie because it isn't loyal to Sherlock Holmes, you need to come up with a different excuse to not like this movie. I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone here, but unless you have a problem with loyal adaptations and gritty action flicks, no one has any reason to dislike this movie. I'm sorry but it's the truth.

#27:

Anyone who's into movies loves the crime genre, and this is easily one of the best as well as one of my favorites. The whole cast does an incredible job especially Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway in the title roles. This is one of those few movies that gets almost every single thing right. The cinematography is wonderfully gritty and realistic, the characters seem like real people, andthere's just really nothing that can I say I dislike about this movie. Maybe the musical score but that's it.

#26:

Yeah, a lot of you probably figured that a Star Wars movie would be showing up soon. A lot of Star Wars fans consider this to be the best, and it's definitely a contender, however there is one part of the saga that I would put higher on my list of favorite movies. But still, The Empire Strikes Back is a great dark turn that's always fun to watch and very much deserves the #26 spot.

#25:

Okay, I know that the poster I used is written in Italian, but because this is an Italian film I wanted to use an original poster and thus I could only ones with Italian text. The Enlgish translation is For A Few Dollars More, the second movie in Sergio Leone's "Man With No Name Trilogy". For A Few Dollars More wasn't the most groundbreaking of the trilogy, but it might be the most intriguing. Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef play two bounty hunters who are going after the same target. They decide to ban together in order to take down the menacing El Indio (whom I consider to be the second greatest movie villain of all time) and hisentourage of banditos. But as you learn more about the characters, it becomes more interesting, and is done in grand spaghettiwestern$tyle.

#24:

Well... this one is pretty hard to ignore. I originally had it lower on my list, but after thinking about it, the more I realized that it really deserves to be pretty high. Ever since I walked out of the theater in 2008, this has been a personal favorite of mine. Batman isreally the onlycomic book character that I actually follow and pay attention to. And thus, I kind of have to love it. But yeah, it's almost impossible to deny this movie, it really is one of my favorite movies, I've seen it at least fifteen times, and I simply love it.

#23:

For those of you who have seen Sunset Boulevard, you know what I'm talking about when I say that it's just amazing. When I first saw this film I couldn't believehow blown away I was, I had just never seen anything like it. I wanted to put it higher on the list, but after reworking it afew timesand thinking about itcarefully, this really is the best spot for it. This is a favorites list, and with that I get more freedom, and this really the best spot for the film. But still, I adore thismovie and it's still one of the most impressive moviesI've ever seen. Although I can't really recommendit to everyone here, because you kind of need tobe a cla$$ic movie buff in order to fully appreciate it. But this is one of those films that everyone shoudl see atsome point.

#22:

Well, The Beatles have shown up twice over the course of the countdown, so I figured that it was about time Bob Dylan got on here for something. I'm Not There is a very artistic and surreal film that will probably confuse people who aren't hardcore Dylan fans. You really need to know the span of career well tounderstand parts of this movie. But I think that it's areally strange, cool, and cleverfilm that deserves the title of my 22nd favorite movie.

#21:

Yes, more Charlie Chaplin, what a shocker. However I'm going to go ahead and say it... this is the last Chaplin movie on the list. The Circus is hands down my favorite of his films. It's not a really eye opening movie about how hard life can be while still being funny, The Circus is just a straight up laugh-fest. It is very touching at points, but not really in the same sense as City Lights and Modern Times. The Circus is just Chaplin making you laugh constantly while still giving a very well put together comedy that remains my favorite of his works.
