Change of subject, but since there are so many developers (Im assuming that warmack is the only real one, and that ratix is just spouting out things that he has heard or assumes), do any of you know a Pete Cruz? He's a good friend and a pretty cool guy who did a bunch of the environment art on "300", some stuff on an older C&C game, and other games I can't remember. His woman does a bunch of the art at Blizzard. Just wondering how connected the industry really is. Curious.
Ok, so we have someone who is a pro in the game industry among us apparently since he claims to know all about the ins and outs of betas and assumes we know nothing. I have just enough friends in the industry and have enough use of 3D modeling and animation to know a bit about making games. In fact my buddy has done a large portion of the art on games like 300 (I know, not that great of a game, but still makes the point). Case and point, don't assume you're the only one who knows anything. On top of that (if you'll simply read my last post), it is possible to have the other graphics engine looking much better, but just not apply it yet. It is possible to apply it and put the finished game into final production between now and September. Sheesh.
And to Warmack, yes, beta means you are basically done, but to release a beta does not necessarily mean that you have applied all you have completed. It is possible to hold some things back (um, like they said in an interview, the final graphics engine is being completed and will be applied once the beta is over. Even hints to that in the beginning of this article if you had bothered to read it instead of looking at the pictures for fuel to vent your 360 bashing), in order to leave some shock and awe for the release date.
Piranha, people aren't making up their mind because of the images. It's just the PS3 fanboys taking advantage of something as lame as beta screens to bash on what will eventually be their undoing for the remainder of 2007 and a good portion of 2008. Let them have their gloating sessions while they can. It is only a matter of time... (Note that I am not bashing on the PS3 in any way, I am simply sick of the fanboys foaming at the mouth over these measly and misleading signs of "weakness". I plan on getting a PS3 myself whenever they lower the freakin price)
Good god people. In the scheme of 360 games, this is a cheaper one ($60 vs $50), and $1 is really going to break your bank? You mean you won't be able to afford the so-so XBL Arcade games if you bust out a whole 90 pts? Seriously, if you are really all that worried about blowing $1.12 on some addition to your game that you probably could live without, solution is: go get yourself a job. It's only $1.12...
