It's Bethesda... my freaking ... Are all of you so young you haven't lived through a majority of Bethesda's games? Bethesda has never been the graphical leader, Skyrim is probably the only exception of them, it was the best graphical effort from them but yet it still failed to live up to Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Witcher 2, Final Fantasy and so many more in terms of visuals.

Fallout 4 is an actual upgrade to Fallout 3, it looks fine. Yes, it does not look as good as Dragon Age Inquisition, Witcher 3 and won't look as good as Mass Effect 4.

The game is fun though, and that's why most don't care. I love the W3 and DA:I, both are beautiful and also fun. But Fallout 4 is special as even as CD project and Bioware try open world they don't quite do it the same. But with those two I get a better story/narrative experience. Bethesda games are more about the adventure than the story. It's still very enjoyable and it's graphics are serviceable. Mainly having 1080p resolution and a good AA solution is enough to make it leaps and bounds over fallout 3.

But the thing is most gamers have to remember, WRPG devs such as CD project Red and Bioware just have better animators and artists. And to the most point better programmers as well, neither have released as buggy of a game any where the level of Bethesda. But Bethesda does open world game design unlike them. Bethesda just has really never employed the best Artists or Animators, but that is their choice. I really don't know what the payoff would be as they seem to not hire the best programmers either (or QA team), but instead have great game designers.

This is probably the ultimate form of Gameplay>Graphics. Bethesda gets it scores from good gameplay and that it's just fun. Games today including Fallout 4 are more than serviceable in terms of graphics. To the point no one should care anymore. (X1 gamers, getting an external drive 7200 rpm or higher/SSD will fix the pauses in the game.) Digital Foundry does have an article about solving this issue.

All in all everyone, Just never expect Bethesda to have leading graphics, animations. If you do then your only setting up for disappointment. But Bethesda does make very fun games in a true open world design. Their Environmental artists aren't half bad and can still create a pretty picture.

Just play the damn game and enjoy it for what it is. If your so hung up on how it doesn't match the Witcher 3 in visuals and let that hinder your experience then I'm sorry for you.

It probably was a cross gen game and last minute was made a next gen title. It plays great. Gameplay fantastic, grinding great, story great, guns great, graphics??? Ehh.

Someone actually needs to pop in a copy of Fallout 3 and realize 4 is a pretty large step up from it.

Crap thread. the PS4 controller looks odd but feels great. The X1 controller does look better but doesn't feel better. Most will say the 360 controller is superior to the X1 controller.

Comfort over looks!

Uhm... Are Lemmings trying to make crushed black sound like a feature/advantage? Wow lol.

Are cows trying to say that better image quality is bad, and fake?

PS4 and PC seem to be on the same level for this. Only X1 without Calibration is darker. It's the odd duck out while the other 2 platforms are a match. This tells most people the X1 is the one doing it wrong.

I dont know what it is but time and time again and again and again the xbox versions of multiplats have more vibrant and deeper colors than ps4. Call it crushed blacks or whatever you want fact is xbox multiplats LOOK better. I dont notice 1080p vs 900p from 10 feet away on my 55 inch tv sitting on my couch but I do notice deeper blacks, bluer blues, redder reds, and so on. Why the hell do all sony multiplats this gen AND last look so damn pale? I swear they all look the same. And im no fanboy at all Ive crapped on all consoles and pc for their respected faults. Ps4 just looks like theyve stripped a layer of color off the top. And ive tried adjusting my tv and ps4 like others have said and it does not look as vibrant as the xbox version. What the hell?

It's called properly calibrating your HDTV and setting the brightness level accordingly as well as the brightness adjustment within the game. My PS4 games look just as Vibrant and bright on my Sammy PNF 8500 Plasma as my X1 games do. The difference is that I took the time and calibrated everything and I set the ingame brightness accordingly.

If you don't calibrate the Xbox it will looks absurdly dark and you will miss a lot of detail and find many things very hard to see since theirs so much black. Every game has a brightness adjustment. Usually on X1 games I raise it higher while on PS4 it's a bit lower

Keep in mind most use a shitty LCD HDTV vs. a superior Plasma or OLED display, which both have way better color accuracy and black levels. All HDTV's can be adjusted within the settings for a more saturated color or de-saturated color profile. All i can say is on my Plasma games look freaking fantastic even with Game Mode turned on. Also, make sure your using limited color modes on your console when hooked up to a HDTV, full is only meant for PC monitors. Using Full will create crushed black levels on both platforms.

Go look at HDTV calibration forums, once you learn how to calibrate your display the only difference between platforms will be Graphical abilities, Resolution and FPS.

I am looking forward to this game, I just hope Nintendo has reasonable expectations for this game on Wii-U. I don't want to hear of no more Xenoblade games because it sold poorly, because well, that's Nintendo's fault for the Wii-U selling poorly. So this game isn't going to do numbers even close to Dragon Age, Fallout or Witcher, as it is restricted to the crappy amount of Wii-U's out there.

This game will be good, I hope Nintendo will still have Monolith Soft make a new Xeno game for the NX despite this games sales. I will be surprised if this game breaks a million.

Umm. Fallout 4... This is the game most people will buy today, regardless of platform.

Rise of the Tomb Raider looks really good but I couldn't give two craps about Star Craft though, I hate RTS games. (Single Player is fine, MP is just a one way ticket to destruction for me). But I haven't been interested in Star Craft II since the original release and I regret buying it. My friends tried to get me into it but I'm just not that competitive to give a crap. (I personally find Blizzard one of the most overrated game companies of all time though). I get what they have done, but only Diablo have I ever got into from their releases.

Really, Tomb Raider is an easy pass even though I really want to play it, I will wait for the PS4 version (Fallout 4 will last me months, I haven't even beaten the Witcher 3 yet and still have all the DA:I DLC to go through). Plus I picked up Yoshi and Black Ops III and will be getting XenoBlade (because it's usually smart to buy games like this at launch before gamestop and ebay start jacking up the prices). Also add the new Tales in there too and I'm playing Forza 6 every now and then. I could get Tomb Raider right now, but with all these games and with having the first one on PS systems, I can easily wait just due to the pure but-load of great titles released recently and forthcoming.

Fail Topic, for me only one of these games looks great and I can be patient and wait for the superior version. You purposely left out one of the GOTY contenders because it is available to EVERYONE. Not to mention in pure Single Player content destroys the two mentioned games. You left it out because it's going to outsell both of your mentioned games tenfolds. Fallout 4 FTW!

HELL NO!! Don't you remember back in the late PS2 and early 360 days of EVERYTHING BEING WWII. How many different ways can we play the same SCENARIO. I remember it being a joke on X-Play and every gaming site back then. I prefer the futuristic/fantasy type shooters of today. It allows developers to create new stories that aren't bound by history books. I played COD2 and that's it. Anything else WWII seemed pointless as not only do I know the history of it, I already played a game involving it. CoD world at war was only good for it's Zombies mode/MP, never played the campaign with my zero interest in WWII after it being done to death.

WWII games belong in the past. It's been done to DEATH. I prefer Fiction over Non-fiction anyway, so the future looks brighter for me. Thats my preference, honestly I can't get enough RPG's based in Fantasy Medieval times. But then again, they can incorporate new stories. That timeline really only represents the weaponry and architecture. So the story, Magic and such can be different game to game.

I don't mind shooters like Wolfenstien though, they may be based in WWII, but they offer a fictional story. So I guess I will end with this, NO MORE HISTORICALLY ACCURATE WWII games. Let them be fictional lol.

@digitm64: So I just found out that as of this morning Green Man will be issuing refunds, a higher up put his foot down and stated they will be doing this. Log a ticket with Green Man support and you should get a refund, just did mine 5 minutes ago, now I wait.

Stuff WB and Rocksteady, they are paying for their incompetence now.

They will, I got a refund after being patient and waiting for the patch. After the patch was delayed I decided it wasn't worth it and they refunded the game. I though I was too late, but I think the news of the patch being delayed was in my benefit. You still have the benefit of even after the patch the stupid game isn't fixed. Just get it refunded and if you really want to play it just get it on a console.

WB hopefully learned a lesson not to outsource a port. They should have let Rocksteady handle the PC version and delay the game a bit.

But don't blame Rocksteady, they had no say in this. They did an amazing job which is why I purchased it on PS4 new. It's WB who's to blame as they are the corporate suits who make these decisions. It wasn't Rock Steady who said hire Iron Galaxy. Publishers are the managers, they give orders and the Devs have to obey. As without the publisher, the dev wouldn't have the money to produce the game.

I would say yes. I don't feel the music is kiddy though or the game itself. I'm trying to gold star every level, so while the levels are easy from point a to b, trying to find everything is a challenge. Basically though is it the game I play at the end of the night since it's October and I tend to watch a lot of horror movies and I end it with a bit of Yoshi now for a reliever. It's calming and relaxing overall.
