I think that it is Opeth's To Bid You Farewell
The guitar work is absolutely AMAZING. Mikael, once again, puts up top notch vocals.
If you don't agree, what do you think is the best song ever written?

So during my little sequester from here, I listened to a lot of stuff from Pandora.com and my last fm recommendation radio. and I found a few bands that are really good on there.
I just recently picked up an album by dredg. its their Live at the Filmore album, but they sound great on it.
Here are two of my favorite songs from them:
Bug Eyes (slide guitar is now one of my new favorite instruments :P)
Whoa is me (The lyrics are awesome :D)
I've also been listening to some:
Daylight Dies
John Zorn
Earshot
Oceansize
Gojira
Channel 23
If you have any recommendations that are a lot like the bands listed or stuff on my Last.fm profile, feel free to post it. I'm always looking to listen to new stuff.
lazyness!!!
I hate being lazy :x
I always tell myself "I'm going to start exercising....tomorrow"
I know exactly who I'm like too:
Peter Gibbons from Office Space. one of the greatest movies ever.
On a side note... my tummy hurts :( Its because I had way too many sugary substances in too short of a time. I had some mountain dew and a candy bar :|
Okay, back on track :P (i hate being scatter brained too) Who else is really lazy?
Edit: New AVY Image! :D
its from this comic
I got into a text argument with my friend about the Harry Potter series. I've come to the conclusion(long ago) that he's an idiot :P
Here's the convo, its convoluted and confusing.... but somehow funny.
Note:
E = him
C = me
E: So i saw Hp5 or whatever number it is... it was okay and the dumbledore clap was the best scene of the movie
C:I thought it sucked until they started playing opeth... Oh wait, that was when i put on my headphones.
E:Lol. It could have been better but the thing is i haven't seen hp and the prisoner of azkaban.
C:That was the last book I read, then i was like"**** this"
E:Rofl. But the reason the kids could see those things (the spirit horses) is because they've all in one way or another seen death.
C:At the beginning only harry and the weird **** could see them.
E:yeah but you find out later that nevill's parents died and that ron's dald almost died. Herionne almost lost harry to voldermort so that covers her. or they all rode on them without seeing them.
C:Sounds like you're trying to justify sucktitutde
E:I am!
C:Why make a piece of **** LOOK like gold? its still a piece of ****
E:I'd much rather polish the turd and have it still reek but look good then just let it sit there reeking and looking like an even worse piece of ****.
C:Why the **** are you polishing a turd? dont even bother with it. J.K. Rowling is a ****** author.Predictable story, carboard characters and not to mention (had to break up due to limited TXT characters) deus ex machina is actually the main character
E:if that was true then harry would have killed voldermort in the first movie.
E: (@ the Deus Ex Machina comment) dude you just described all of star wars to me. gee THANKS.
C:The series isn't about the story, its about money. Its just a money making scheme
E:I doubt that. James Bond is a series all about money, granted that some Bond movies are decent
C: (@ prior comment about harry killing voldermort) Yes, a lot of stuff has deus ex machina. A lot of stories would be lost without it. but one can get excessive
E:True. MGS or Halo anyone?
C:The fact of the matter is, if she was a good writer, she could have finished it in like 4 books. but she's not
C: (@ the comment about MGS) Bad writing anyone?
E:Well explain the drizzt series to me then. Good books, good author, good story.
E: (@ the comment about bad writing) She's a new york times best seller o.0
C: (@ the comment about Drizzt) You can't have a piece of writing without deus ex machina. but you can overdo it.
E:Really? Never knew that actually.
C:its part of the suspension of disbeleif. but there is a limit, till people start throwing up bs flags
C: (@ the comment about best seller) Because if it makes records, it has to be good *rolls eyes*
E:Generally every new york times best seller books have been good. hence the polishing the turd statement. if it looks good but smells like ****, which some of the books do smell like fish ****, then people tend to accept it as being good.
C:One of the greatest fantasy series is george martin's "a game of thrones" have you seen as much hype over that? No. You know why? Harry has better marketing
E:That's just it. the **** things, in this case according to you is harry ptter, get all the hype while those that truly deserve it go silently on their way without getting an ounce of attention.
C:Yeah, and that's bull****
E:Again it's true, but look at dirge( of cerberus). got all this ype for being a final fantasy game and it looked pretty even though the gameplay smelled like ****
C:Things should be popular based on their merrits, not who has the better advertising execs
E:If that was true then do you know how big the dragonlance series would be? An awesome series of book with many, many offshoots to it.
C:So you're trying to say that you want dragonlance to be popular, but you still try to justify harry piece of ****
E:both have niche fan bases. And for the record, dragonlance is a way better series than hp will ever be
C:and yet you still try to justify it? i don't get it. Do you like harry potter? if not, why are you trying to defend it?
E:I don't hate it and i'll leave it at that. I just happen to think dl is better than hp.
C:and you think its right that such a poorly written fad novel should RIGHTFULLY be popular?
E:Let me get back to you ok? Just got busy.
E:They each ave their own niche fan bases that heavily support their favored product. So because of that and because harry potter is a successful movie series, hp is justified for having supposed ****** books.
E:but then again i've never read the hp books, so my entire argument goes out the window.
C:>_> ugh... so I've been arguing for all this time and your arguments were baseless. goddamn i feel like a dumbass
(then it just goes downhill from there)
I just had a really busy day and I'm tired, but I still have homework to do
This kitty is how I feel:P
(Not really dead)
I'm so bogged down with work today that I'm doing some stuff here at home to try to catch up.
And I had to give my friend a ride to the norfolk naval base... twice( ) this morning. He's shipping out to bahrain for 6 months
In other news, I was contacted about possibly writing articles for a small gaming site. it seems interesting, but looking at my recent, and upcoming schedule... I may not be able to be a regular writer for them.
I have a few ideas on what to write about:
If you have any other suggestions on what to write about. Just let me know and I'll think about it.
That is all.
I reached the 10k milestone today. I don't feel any different :?
I didn't want to make a thread about it in ot because it seems like everyone is reaching 10k recently.
In other news, I'm packing up my x-box to bring over to a party. My friend is having a birthday/going away party.
I think I should get him a prank gift :P like a magazine and some lotion
So my math class has turned into a poem writing hour :? I never pay attention in class, because the teacher works straight from the book. By the book teachers are the most boring.
And, my zune battery died today while at work, so i was forced to listen to the radio. And a thought occurred to me. Why do all the lyrics have to deal with some sort of love/relationship/breakup/general whining?
Whatever happened to good lyrics, ones that really evoke emotion, ones that tell a story, ones that describe a scene, ones that make you think. Not saying that love song lyrics are all bad, but it seems like that's all bands play.
I guess its just me that thinks this, because I really like to listen to music for lyrics, listen for little nuances like hidden meanings and such. But that's what I like to do with a lot of writing, break it down, analyze it and think about it. And that's quite difficult to do with writings/songs that are pretty one sided, meant to be taken at face value.
But I have no real room to talk... my crap is pretty shallow, no hidden meanings, just groups of words and phrases that sound halfway decent together. maybe I can become a country singer... with death metal vocals :o
Edit: so I completely skipped the point of this blog... so here goes:
Lost In Doubt
Hope decays in me
As I contemplate my useless days
Every day seems the same.
Embodiment of doubt,
crush all resolve.
Consciousness hates me
Blood cries to be let out,
wants to be freed;
but it's enslaved in spite.
Waiting for the day,
When all this s*** will change
In silence
all i know, my skin decays
confidence is far away
fear, in my bones, saturates
mind is racing every day.
inhibitions dominate.
Encumber none with my plight,
just let these tears roll tonight.
I was originally going to name this 42, because (if i counted right) 7 lines with 7 syllables. but I kinda left it hanging, so when you read it, tack the title to the end :D
Hay guys! I'm back from another mandatory vacation ;)
So I was browsing teh intarwebz and found some random funnay, and now I post it here.
O.M.F.G
If you have any other funnay, POST IT :D
I'm defiantly not one :P
But here's a short list of some whom are:
Franz Kafka - Very good writer. I take a lot of que's from him about my work. He though his work was absolute trash. Upon his deathbed, he told his wife (i think) as his final wish, for all of his works to be burned, preferably unread.
H.P. Lovecraft - not quite for his Cthulhu mythos, but his other works. He uses his words like brush strokes to form a macabre, eerie feeling for most of his work.
William Faulkner - As I Lay Dying is possibly the best novel I've ever read. not quite for the story, its a boring one if you look at it. But the way he tells the story, through many people's points of view; makes it one of the most clever and astounding works I've read. How he can "get inside" all these character's heads and speak through their point of view is just absolutely amazing.
Edgar Allen Poe - Great writings all around. Well known for his story The Raven. But one of the more Psychologically stunning pieces of work written by him is The Telltale Heart. It delves into the mind of a murderer, breathtaking.
Willaim Shakespeare - This goes without being said. Amazing poet and playwright. This man's firm, but subtle grasp on the english language is nothing short of perfect. Very profound tragedies that never fail to strike a chord with anyone willing and able to understand his antiquated language.
Geoffrey Chaucer - Wrote The Canturburry Tales. A writer far ahead of his time. He spoke out about the church when it was in its most powerful over europe, but he did so in a satirical and devious way as not to get reprimanded. This man had guts speaking out against the most powerful force in europe the way he did. And he did it very astutely too.
And there is one other author I'm thinking of, his name is on the tip of my tongue, but I cannot think of his name. I read one of his works in my Senior year of high school, but again, I cannot remember the name of it. Amazing.
He died young of smallpox, I believe. Because of that ill omen looming over his head, he spend the rest of his day writing. Many scholars believe that if he hadn't died early in life due to smallpox, his work would have been comparable and rival Shakespeare's.
If anyone knows this author's name, I'll give hugs, cookies... and any favors ;) to you :P
And feel free to post any of your favorite writers :D
EDIT: I figured out who I was thinking of. His name is John Keats. So I get hugs, cookies and a favor to myself :o :?
