[QUOTE="PannicAtack"][QUOTE="Serraph105"] I want to say you're wrong but you're not. still though you cant ride dragons in LoTRchessmaster1989

So, let me try... It's the plot of Star Wars In the Setting of Lord of the Rings With some stuff from Dragonriders of Pern.

With a strange crossing and combination of LotR and Star Wars characters. :|

Very good teamwork by the both of your minds there well done lol :lol:

[QUOTE="PannicAtack"] Ahahahahahahano.PannicAtack

Eragon is probably the most blatant ripoff of Tolkein out there. :|

Don't forget Star Wars.

Now that is a series I never could get into, never did like it. Dunno why just don't.

[QUOTE="MclovinKilledU"]the eragon series is aswome and i cant wait for thr 4th bookPannicAtack

I liked the 1st one then I didn't like the 2nd one as much and then i disliked the 3rd one even more, i probable won't bother buying the 4th one.

I read the first two. Haven't read the third. I found they were fairly enjoyable, readable fantasy novels, but... I hated the characters. Eragon is whiny, Saphira is smug, the elves are unbearably preachy... Also, I had a problem with this: Eragon, after his training, breaks down crying after accidentally killing a line of ants, some flowers, and a baby mouse. Okay, fair enough, I guess. But then he goes on to wantonly slaughter legions of soldiers. I find Eragon's sense of morality rather questionable. And I heard it got worse in the third book, with using slaves as bait, strangling a soldier to death, and mind-raping someone who had the gall to call crap on him.

Yeah, the third one isn't as good as was hyped, bit dissapointing actually:(

[QUOTE="Hungry_bunny"]Checked it out, Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind? Interesting... might check it out but I probably won't love it as much as the Shannara Series by Terry Brooks or the Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett... ...why are so many fantasy writers named Terry? Fake names? Oh, and Stephen King's Dark Tower Series is in my top 3 too.chessmaster1989

Oh my, how the hell did I forget to mention Discworld. I've read everything in that series except for The Last Hero, so amazing. :D

The city watch books are definitely the best, though. Captain Carrot/Commander Vimes/Nobby Nobbs/Sgt. Colon/etc. never get old :P.

Same for me, but I also like the Rincewind ones aswell

[QUOTE="Dman0017"]

i used to like the series, but it drags out over about 14 books that are 500+ pages each.

Dman0017

Well its actually like 8 books of 750+ pages each but i think they are the best

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword_of_Truth apparently its 11. i like them up until chain fire.

I like them all but they all got a bit boring after that one tbh:(

[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]

I've heard of "Sword of Truth." Bad things, mainly. I've heard that it's an objectivist tract even more ham-handed than Ayn Rand, that it's extremely preachy, that the author has a massive ego, and that the fandom between it and A Song of Ice and Fire absolutely hate each other.

PannicAtack

I didn't think it was preachy at all, the author might but it's not as if it shows in the books.

TVTropes disagree. The eighth book got alot of hate for what seemed to be endless preaching. Example being how Richard delivers a long speech promoting atheists and about how we cannot know what happens after death... despite having talked to ghosts himself. Who's the one talking, Richard or Terry?

good example, i'll admit the last one is quite preachy but only at the end:(
