Gamer Shark Review: Epic Mickey

The New Year is here and so i the Gamer Shark Review for Friday December 31, 2010. For this installment, I will be reviewing EPIC MICKEY for the Nintendo Wii. Epic Mickey is set in the Disney universe in which Mickey Mouse lives. After passing through a magic mirror in his home, Mickey comes across a magic paint brush that was left by a wizard in front of a seemingly harmless painting. Mickey then decides to do a little editing to the painting. Not knowing what he had done Mickey unleashes an evil ink blot onto the world on the painting. Mickey then flees in fear back to his home. Mickey spends several days oblivious to what he had done until the Ink Blot returned for him. After being dragged into the WASTELAND, Mickey must use the power of paint and paint thinner to battle enemies either by turning them to his side or eliminating them completely. Aside from the great story, the controls for this game are the best on the Wii. You must simply point your remote at the screen and fire your paint or thinner. The environment of the Wasteland is both familiar to Disney fans and eerie in the dark and somber appearance. Aside from being rather creepy, the graphics are done beautifully with bright and detailed worlds and characters. Overall, EPIC MICKEY is an amazing game that has both an engrossing story and simple yet responsive gameplay all pulled together by a world that will bring you back again and again both in nostalgia and by just being nice to look at.

9/10

Gamer Shark Awards 2010: Part 2

As I stated in part 1, these are just my opinions. Nothing more.

Best Sequel: Bioshock 2

The return to Rapture was just as amazing and entertaining as I expected. With new revamped controls, Bioshock 2 was definately deserving of a spot in the game of the year run.

Best Kinect Game: Kinect Joy Ride

Of all the available kinect games, this one has the most entertaining and accurate. I had alot of fun with this one.

Best Remake: Goldeneye 007

This was by far one of the most well made and detailed remakes in video game history. Any Wii owner would be crazy if they didn't buy this one.

Gamer Shark Awards: 2010 Part 1

It is time for my picks for the best of 2010. Note: These are just my opinions. They are not based on anything other than what I like.

Best 360 Game: Mass Effect 2

With a completely revamped control system and deep story, this game gets almost everything right that Mass Effect couldn't accomplish.

Best PS3 Game: The Sly Collection

The best formula for creating a great game is getting back to the basics. By combining three of the best games on PS2, The Sly Collection becomes the best game on the PS3.

Best Wii Game: Donkey Kong Country Returns

A revitalized n64 game that combines bright and vivid graphics with responsive controls. This game gets everything right.

Gamer Shark Review: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Oogie's Revenge

Holiday Shark

The Gamer Shark Reviews are here. For the first ever installment and the holiday edition, I will review a game that is all about the holidays. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge(TNBCOR) takes place after the events of the movie. Jack Skelington returns to Halloween Town only to find that everyone is either gone or have turned on him. With a green slime whip in hand Jack must fight various skeletons as he tries to stop the Boogie Man from taking over Halloween Town. Now on to the gameplay. This game is mainly a button masher that has you repeatedly tapping buttons top swing your whip at enemies. You must collect the souls of these enemies which you use to buy various upgrades for your game including whip upgrades and health upgrades. There are also power-ups to pick up for temporary boosts to your attacks to defeat enemies more quickly. ANother impressive feature is the musical moments in which you must press the right button when it reaches the center of the meter. It is a feature in all boss battles and if you are successful, serious damage is done to the enemy. Overall, the gameplay is great. All I could ask for was an easier way to dodge enemies rather than running out of the way. In short this is a very worthwhile game that is only enhanced if you are a fan of the movie. If you're looking for a cheap and easy game for the holidays, go ahead and give it a try.

Introducing.......Gamer Shark Reviews

And now introducing my personal weekly review here on GAMESPOT.COM, Gamer Shark Reviews. On every Friday or Saturday, I will be reviewing a different game that I play. Just look for the Gamer Shark pictured above and you'll know a new review is here.

What to Expect from Mass Effect 3

Bioware's latest project was announced at last night's VGAs. Can you guess what it was? If you guessed it was Mass Effect 3, then you were spot on! The teaser trailer showed a planet being decimated by Reapers which directly continues the end of Mass Effect 2. So what new features should we expect from this next installment? Hopefully, Bioware will improve on all the things in Mass Effect 2 that people complained about. On the other hand, I can't think of anything people had to complain about. In that case, all we can hope for is a great story and the same great gameplay mechanics from the last game.Yeah I know it's from Mass Effect 2.

The Beatles on iTunes

For the first time ever, I tunes has released real Beatles albums and several documentaries to purchase. This is a big deal only because there has never been any real Beatles albums on iTunes. All that has been available were tribute bands which just aren't the same.
