Kinect First Impressions

With the recent surge in motion controls, you would probably think they would start to become a little dull. Microsofts will prove you wrong with their new hardware, Kinect. Using two cameras and a motion sensor, Kinect tracks your every movement with amazing precision. The current game selection may be lacking any standout titles, but there are many good times to be had with games like Kinect Adventures, Kinect Joyride, and Kinect Sports. Now for the negatives. The amount of space required to play Kinect could cause some problems with the furniture arrangement in your room of choice. You need a descent amount of extra space on all four sides to play to the fullest. Moving furniture can be a little annoying in the long run. Overall, Kinect is not my number one choice for motion controllers yet but once some more entertaining games are released, it could easily move to the top of the list.

Goldeneye 007 Review

After purchasing the new Goldeneye game today, All I can say is that I'm very impressed. This game excels in all fields and is in the running for MY game of the year. The game has you playing as James Bond who is voiced by Daniel Craig as you use various sneaking tactics to take out enemies either by quiet assassinations or by running in guns blazing. It all depends on what you prefer. The game uses a very useful system of cover in which you crouch behind an obstacle and instantly rise into view as you aim. You snap back into cover as soon as you let go of the aim button. Multiplayer also returns with a bang in this game. You have the basic game types such as team deathmatch and free-for-all as well as several other less common game types like paintball and melee only. The only drawback to this game would be the control scheme. I played with the classic controller and you have to position your fingers in a rather awkward way in which you shoot your gun using the ZR button located in the inner part of the remote. That can easily be overlooked in one of the most engrossing and alltogether fun gaming experiences this year.

9.9/10 ....... It's just because of the controls.

Pre Ordered Kinect

I recently preordered Microsoft Kinect for the Xbox 360. When it comes out on Thursday I will most likely be getting it. Once I have some quality time with the peripheral, I'll post my first impressions of what I like and dislike.

Watch this clip if you want to break down laughing. The funniest moment is about 2 minutes in while this guy is playing Amnesia: the Dark Descent.

Happy Birthday NES!!!!!!!!

The Nintendo Entertainment system is turning 25 and I thought a good way to celebrate would be to mention some of its most memorable games. For starters, how can we not think about Super Mario Bros. and Duckhunt. These titles practically made the NES the juggernaut that it was. And how can anyone forget Contra, one of the greatest action games of its generation. The Legend of Zelda was one of the first games with a fully explorable world that the player could explore. Metroid had kids addicted for months with its complex levels and password system that had the most dedicated players mapping out the levels on graph paper so they wouldn't forget where they were. Mike Tyson's Punch Out was a game that made you work your brain in an effort to master the patterns of the punches and find a combo that could beat it. And last but not least, Super Mario Bros. 3 was one of the most memorable games in the series and on the console itself. It added new features such as the flight suit allowing you to reach new heights. After 25 years, we look at the NES as one of the most memorable and innovative systems ever to plug into your TV. It still stands in this position even after all that has come since and will most likely be the most memorable for years to come.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY:D

Playstation Move First Impression

After spending some time on Sports Champion and the various demos on the demo disc I have come to the conclusion that Playstation Move has alot of potential. It just hasn't been reached yet. With the launch titles less memorable there is plenty of potential classics on their way. At this point, the highlight of the initial bundle was the Sports Champion Gladiator Duel which gave the impression of being a real swordsman. I was also interested in the eyepet demo if you like that kind of simulation thing. The peripheral is definately worth a buy but if the currently titles aren't your style of gaming, you should put it off until later this year.

The Sacrifice

The newest DLC for Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 is being released tomorrow. It is titled The Sacrifice and it tells of the events leading up to the passing. It will be playable on both games and the original survivors wiill be able to utilize all of the new weaponry L4D2 has to offer. The new finale will also be an interesting new edition whick will have the survivors choosing one of their own to sacrifice so that the others can survive. An edition exclusive to the L4D2 version will make the No Mercy campain playable with the new survivors, infected and weapons. All new maps in both games will be playable through all game types.

Bioshock Infinite Gameplay

It's been almost four years since the original Bioshock. Now, in a few short years, the third enstallment is coming to consoles. Bioshock Infinite takes place years before the original in a city in the sky called Columbia. The first gameplay demo was just released which gives you your first glimpse of this new environment. You wake up in a city square alone and distoriented. You make your way up the street when you come across some guns. Once you take one, you are attacked by some of Columbia's citizens. When they start throwing mortars at you, you must glide across the sky on a zipline. You are attacked by a group of enemies with nothing but a shotgun and electro bolt. The enemies are overwhelming so you need some help. A woman named Elizabeth uses her powers to make it rain which increases the effect of the electro bolt. You start to run when you are attacked by a huge mechanical man that Irrational Games is currently calling the Alphas. You defeat him by bringing a bridge down on him. You are then interrupted by a loud screech that comes from HIM, a giant bird monster who is trying to keep Elizabeth in Columbia. This is where the demo ends.

Reach First Impression

Just the opening cutscene made me want to play this game. The last game I played that was this good was Bioshock which was 3 years ago. The highlight of the game so far was of course the multiplayer where you can either play the classic game types like slayer or try one of the new types like the arena. Another highlight was the new weapons specifically the covenent made weaponslikethe needle rifle. Forge has been upgraded to give you more architectural options along with the use of all the new weapons and the vehicles. In short this is an exceptional game and it is definately a game you should spend some time on.

Halo Reach

I just bought Halo Reach today. In the box I recieved a code for a recon helmet and a free 2 day pass to a gold subscription. Although I haven't been able to play yet, andI won't be able to play until friday, I will certainly post a blog telling about my first experience after i've played long enough to form a well thought out opinion.
