2d was a technology limitation not a design choice. making 2d games this day and age is a goddamn joke.WORDTOYOFACE

Explain to me why that added dimension is better. And it is now a design choice, one that has garnered multiple games (Super Meat Boy, Limbo, LBP, Braid, NSMBW, Outland and more) rave reviews. Just because it was a technical limitation back then doesn't mean it is bad.

[QUOTE="WORDTOYOFACE"] 2d games arent relevant since 3d platformers like mario64 existed.WORDTOYOFACE

Now I'm sure you can't be serious. 2D platformers have a completely different styIe, there's nothing inherently better about one added dimension. That's silly.

Ever since 3d games existed i could never go back to 2d man. that's like purposely trying to be nostalgic.

Really? You're missing so much. Super Meat Boy is perfection in a red cube, it's such a brilliant game. And NSMB Wii is great as well. Not to mention Limbo, Donkey Kong Country Returns and LittleBigPlanet (though admittedly, it's more the creation that allures in that title). There's a lot more speed and action in 2D platformers, IMO.

[QUOTE="WORDTOYOFACE"]wtf is nsbm?WORDTOYOFACE

short for new super mario bros. it's a 2d platormer mario game made for the wii that is very similar to super mario 3, the big difference is that you can have up to 4 players playing on a level at the same time. you can work as a team to get to the finish, or fight for the best score, heck of a game that sold millions upon millions of copies.

2d games arent relevant since 3d platformers like mario64 existed.

[QUOTE="WORDTOYOFACE"] yea n64 was last real relevant nintendo console they lost focus after that.WORDTOYOFACE

He was defending the Wii. The point is, there are good 3rd party games on the Wii, but there is also a LOT of trash on the system. The titles get lost in between.

n64 was the last nintendo console with quality third party games or first party games.

Huh? Really? I could make a VERY long list to combat that claim, but I'll list three masterpieces that were released on Nintendo platforms since the N64 just to make it simple:

Metroid Prime
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door

In my opinion, the N64 had a few superb games, but ultimately lacked a broad catalogue of games. Agree to severely disagree, I guess.

[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]

[QUOTE="mexicangordo"]

Final Fantasy reminds me of the "huge" influential bands of the 90's that could have been legendary but got stuck in the past and never bothered to progress. The Final Fantasy games are stuck in the 90's, and the franchise loves to engulf itself with problematic drama instead of striding on success and moving on.

mexicangordo

Really if that were true certain fans would never complain. Each FF plays differently from each other. Its not always the same battle system,story,character or world. Thats why the fanbase has so many splits. Thats the reason I like the series since not counting sequels like 13-2 your pretty much getting a new direction each part. Now is that direction good or bad is based on the persons opinion.

Being stuck in the past does not mean rehashing what has worked. Instead of them taking the success and acclaim of the series, why do they resist it and create questionable games. I mean must I bring in the spin offs? Or the god awful MMO's?

I'd say that the spin-offs with a tactical focus rock. FFT and FFXII Revenant Wings are, at least IMO, fantastic.

[QUOTE="StrongDeadlift"]

The differences are irrelevant and unnoticable on any multiplat made after 2008 save for like 3. Its all irrelevant stuff like their version of Call of Duty running at 60fps to the PS3's 58.7 FPS. A normal human being in the real world will not think twice about it or care.

Maybe in 2007 and 2008 or something it was different, but now, it is nothing more than mental masturbation for lemmings, which they will conveniently not care about all of a sudden when we put Killzone 3 next to Halo Reach.

StrongDeadlift

i thought i was the only one to notice that ;)

or the fact that exclusives were the world to people in 2007 now it's nothing:lol:

or the fact that Graphics Kings were the world to people in 2006. Remember, it was xbox fanboys who coined the term "graphics king", not cows ;) Yet they despise cows for it. Gears of War anyone?

I'd say they still are (for some strange reason). Every fanboy uses it these days.

I prefer Wiimote + nunchuck over both systems in FPSs. Otherwise, it's heavily dependant on genre. RTSs and basically any game dependent on cursors are much better with keyboard and mouse, while I can only play platformers with controllers.

[QUOTE="calvinsora"]

[QUOTE="WORDTOYOFACE"] nope gamespot changed their rating system they dont score replay value anymore.WORDTOYOFACE

Tom McShea explicitly mentioned that the lack of New Game + was disappointing and damaged the replay value. It's the only flaw in the game I remember him mentioning so ardently in the vid review.

no gamespot's old review system rated graphics,gameplay,sound,replay value you all games. gamespot reviews cant be taken serious anymore.

Do you mean to say that because they (thankfully) got rid of that annoying separate score system that was scaled to get a final score, that they stopped individually rating those features? Of course they still rate those things, it's just not a direct part of the review code. If a game has poor replay value, they point that out and may even dock points if it's particularly bad. And of course they can be trusted, their writing is superb compared to most other reviewers.

Lol even people who are saying wii has a lot of 3rd party games also add in that you'll have to search long and hard to find them. Your act is bad bro.

WORDTOYOFACE

Have you been to a Gamestop or any store that sells Wii Games?

This is what you might see.

Pick out the Good 3rd Parties out of this list.
