@battlestreak: Yea, I really might play it 8 or so years down the road. Still play the older Ghost Recons as well as the old Gears of War games. If revisiting old catalogues was such a crazy idea XBOX wouldn't be doing backwards compatability. PlayStation wouldn't be selling the games that came out for PS2 (I won't pay for them, but there's still a market for old games). People want to keep what they've already paid for, no matter how much or little they spent. If the game doesn't have this potential then I'm going to save my money and support a game that can do this for me. I'm not going to just toss money out there for a product that might not last... Simple as that.
I might find the game enjoyable, but if I pay for something and it comes to an end at no fault of my own... Then no. I paid for something so someone else can tell me how long I'm allowed to own it. It's a source of entertainment; if you told me I could buy music but I'd only get to keep it for so many years, I'd laugh in your face.
@battlestreak: How is it such a small thing? If you pay all this money for the console and the game, you should be able to play it wherever and whenever you want to. I'm on the road a lot, sometimes I don't have Internet; I can't play the game. Ubisoft has server issues, I can't play the game. The game gets older Ubisoft is focusing on other projects, the server gets shut down... Now I'm staring at a disc I paid 60 bucks or way more for that is useless.
If I pay for something, I want to know it's going to last. Everyone wants backwards compatability, how is it so much different to want to be able to pick up a game and play it no matter how old it is? Always online is going to ruins that. Have your single player offlinee and everything else can be online.
@HIT3kNology: Yep, because when I refer to 'online only' games; that's me bitching about the Internet. Kind of like when I complain about swimming pools because I like to complain about water.
Is this going to be another always online game? If so, please count me out immediately. I'm so sick of not being able to play a game due to network problems.
I was absolutely stoked for Prey 2. I thought the idea and look of it was absolutely stunning. While the idea is still fresh; if this goes through, I hope the look will be able to keep up with the current gen technology.
First, you make a conscious decision to release what is essentially 1/2 of a game to release around the same time as a movie that really has nothing to do with the game. Who cares? A good game should always come first! Secondly, I like how he mentions the fact that they made it to where you can play the game with your 8 year old on the couch. I played this with my 6 year old, it took us maybe an hour and a half to clear their "missions". The waves last longer but get boring and then when you do their offline MP against bots, you can't be on the same team. Even my 6 year old was disappointed by the lack of stuff we could truly do together. F you and your terrible decisions/excuses!
The article that claimed 65% of the movie will be present and 35% of the movie is history tells me otherwise. Just like the games I'm sure the peak of your interests will be in the past portions while the present is boring and mundane while trying to be secretive and interesting. Mix that with the liberties they took on the look of the animus and I'm sure they'll destroy this with their neat inventive ideas to make it appeal to a movie audience. Sat what you like Ubisoft, I have a very bad feeling about this; like Resident Evil movie bad.
@whatsazerg: Eh, still don't think I'd pay that much for a game with no real campaign or single player. Like I said before, when I'm on the road; a game like this is basically worthless.
@eilegz: I agree. While I did participate in the beta, I have 0 plans to purchase this game. I'm definitely worn out by games that require an Internet connection. Especially being on the road a lot in the near future, these games do me no good! At least with this title most people agree it's not worth 60 dollars.
So the biggest complaint of th last Battlefront was the lack of single player/bots which they never even tried to address. Now, with a new game; still no mention of any single player/conquest mode..... To hell with this franchise.
