Not sure, last 2 games flopped.

A Link Between Worlds flopped? News to me, I thought it was GotY here last year, beating out competition like GTA5 and TLOU.

Last 2 console games flopped, better?

Twilight Princess

95 on GR

95 on MC

Skyward Sword

93 on GR

93 on MC

Try harder...

oh ok, well in that case TLOU got over 200 GOTYs and is sitting at what 95%?

And lost to a handheld Zelda game here. Ouch.

To be fair, it was 60fps Zelda. A game whose framerate tanked to the low 20s every time you were in a remotely open environment didn't stand a chance.

@delta3074 The only ones I disliked were the DS ones that had you use the stylus to control Link's movement. Really didn't like that control scheme.

Is it just brand loyalty? Everybody went nuts at E3 with the Zelda trailer, I understand that Zelda appeals to an audience far bigger than just gamers...but what exactly do people see in it? Zelda gameplay has literally not evolved 1 bit since OoT (over 15 years ago) and as far as adventure genre goes, it's possibly the most shallow game of the genre.

Every other game like it, like the witcher, dark souls, or even skyrim is waaay better at the adventure genre than Zelda.

I mean seriously, Zelda is always like 4 steps back from the other games. 2015 and just now do they decide to try "open world" (which im pretty sure will either be extremely restrictive OR very small). The story is nothing special either, it's pretty mediocre and short, and filled with cliches of the saga (for example:the main villain switches halfway through the story). They just use the same recycled plot and change a few things to make it look a bit different.

Really at this point, Zelda has nothing going for its name other than brand loyalty.

The Witcher series is a dark RPG franchise with a serviceable, but not particularly great combat system; it also completely lacks puzzles, one of the defining elements of the Zelda franchise. I don't know why you would even compare it to Zelda. Dark Souls is similar, but again, a very different experience in numerous ways (art style, combat difficulty, tone, lack of puzzles). Skyrim? Really? A first person RPG with horrendous combat and zero puzzles? Those games hardly replace Zelda--something like Darksiders 2 might.

And who gives a shit about the plots in a Zelda game!?

So Uncharted 4 is using the Unreal 4 engine?

no. They are using the same Engine they built from the ground up for the PS3.

God are there a lot of morons in this thread.

1. In engine =/= in-game, real-time

2. Naughty Dog is not composed of ancient wise men with freakishly amazing coding talent that no one else in the industry has access to. They couldn't keep their last game at a fucking stable 30fps. Some gods!! Not to mention, the Last of Us looked like garbage. Terrible image quality, low res textures everywhere, jaggies, piss filters, just ugh...ugly as hell. Maybe it was enough to impress the idiots at IGN, but for people that are actually used to good looking games, it looked atrocious.

3. If you seriously think they're gonna pull off that level of IQ with that level of AA at a stable 60fps...you're a fucking idiot. Now, remove the high quality AA, tone down the ambient occlusion and other minor yet costly visual effects, make the environments confined enough ala the Order, and yeah, I can see it pulling off close to 60fps. The fact that the Order needs to run with black bars at 30fps while utilizing 4XMSAA (the kind of AA you would need for that level of image quality) should tell you something.

2. they do. They have Corrine Yu and are developing exclusively for the most powerful current gen consoles. As hyperbolic as this sounds it's all true. And Uncharted games have always had rock-solid frame-rate, so I have no idea what you're talking about. Go read some Digital Foundry. And their online even though it was running on P2P server the latency was some of the lowest in all the last gen games including dedicated servers. Some kind of wizardry they must be using to achieve all this stuff.

"Last of Us looked like garbage. Terrible image quality"

^ Oh lordy, GTFO!

3. Some of what you say here might turn out true but Naughty Gods are the Naughty Gods, the least we can expect is one of the best looking games of the generation either way.

You seem to not understand how the games industry works. People move from company to company and take their coding knowledge with them. Corrine Yu is no different and worked at numerous different companies prior to going to ND in 2013. Did Gearbox games start to look like CGI due to her mere presence at the company? Did Halo 4?

And really? None of their games have framerate problems, hmm?

Loading Video...

And seriously? That's high image quality? Low res textures, jaggies, low resolution, poor shading. Don't get me wrong, it looks good for a console game running on old ass hardware, but don't sit here an pretend it has the same image quality as games that haven't confined themselves to consoles.

I was more outraged at how the police handle a hostage in the game. I didn't know it was typical counter-terrorist behavior to use hostages as human shields while you have a big shoot out with terrorists, and then proceed to throw said hostage out of a two story shattered, bedroom window. I don't understand why they felt the need to drag the hostage along as they went hunting for terrorists. Seemed pretty daft.

Swat 4 didn't have that shit. If you found a hostage, you yelled at the motherfucker to drop to the floor, put their hands up, then proceed to cuff them. If they didn't comply, I'd bear mace their asses!

Little thing I made up

Actually in SWAT 4 multiplayer you had a VIP that was packing a .45CAL while you escorted him. I would complain if the SP does have some nonsense like this.

Oh ok. Never bothered with the multiplayer as I figured it would be dead.

Hopefully they just fire him before he gets to her level. Having another Patricia Hernandez in the gaming industry would be insufferable.

Yeah, not surprising. Pretty sure the Witcher 3 demo they showed off at the XB1 event was also on PC, as I could have sworn it switched to the desktop at one point. It's hard to say though, as it looked fairly shitty due to the quality of the stream, and it also lacked the PhysX fur and stuff that they said was gonna be in it (although they may just implement that later on).

The thing that weirded me out about the Arkham Knight reveal was that it showed them using the Batmobile as a tank, firing shells and shit. You know that there's gonna be some point in the story where Batman wigs out about killing Scarecrow or someone, and goes on his little preaching tirade about how he never kills....even though he was just running around Gotham shelling cars. I also didn't really see the point of the Batmobile--it didn't look any quicker than simply flying, and with the flying I can avoid having to go through road choke points.

Well you must be a blind fanboy, then. I mean really, what I said was a fact. You've got people spending 1000 dollars on a graphics card, alone. It is THE VERY DEFINITION of the way you described the situation.

I'm tired of you dumb ass consolites who think you need $1000 to game at 1080p 60fps, you don't even need that much to game at 4k. If someone drops $1000 on a GPU, it's because they want too NOT because they have too. You could get a 7950 for $150 and that will run 99.9% games at 1080p. So please do some research before you pull shit out of your ass.

a 7950 costs between $200-300 brah. That's nearly a PS4 without counting the rest of the components like ram, cpu, ventilators, case, power supply, etc. Right now no PC can beat the PS4's price/power ratio. There is no way.

And for its price performance is not exactly that great either. The card struggles playing games in 1080p above 30 frames.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-radeon-hd-7950-review

7950 is in the process of being phased out. The revised version of it is now called the R9 280. They been dipping sub 200 dollars New.

R9 270x which is great for 1080p (stronger than ps4) has been dipping below 150 dollars new now.

I think they all come with 3 games too.

nope, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202099

This is the lowest I could find it, $270. Stop trying to over exaggerate on how cheap is to build a gaming pc.

A 7950 is considerably more powerful than a PS4. Pointing to an old DF article where they tested games with 4x-8x MSAA and SSAA isn't evidence of jack shit. Even a 7870 is considerably more powerful than a PS4, to the point where it can run games like Thief at 60fps with tessellation enabled (something the PS4 can't even manage at 30fps).

Oh, and as to ND saying it'll be 60fps....yeah, sure. These are the same people that couldn't even manage a remotely stable 30fps in their last few games.
