GTA IV is miles better than this shit. I take back what I said about this.

Almost empty streets, shitty fake reflections with even shitty low resolution cubemaps that lead to poor reflection resolution, shit textures and shit character models. I'm sure I'm missing on a lot of things.

Take a look at this image, presumably it's the lowest LOD model for that character:

HAHAHAHAHAH! WTF IS THAT!?

@freedomfreak: In video games we are used to seeing a type of cinematic lighting scheme. It appears for this game they chose a very natural lighting scheme. The colors are not very saturated are a close to what you will normally see in real life but because they are depicted through a 2d medium it makes them look flat or washed out. Some of the materials look a little off also. Like what is his coat? I thought it was leather it appears to not have the slight sheen that leather has. Or maybe its a dingy old leather coat.

This lighting scheme is anything but natural.

Yeah, Arma 3 has a very natural lighting scheme (here); this does not. Remember the excessive god ray photos we've seen?

Your standing in a shadow, and thats a different time of day. Also lets not forget Arma comes from an actual simulation. You guys are just looking for something to be mad at which is cool you can be mad just don't make up reasons to be mad. "I don't think its natural because the way it interacts with NPC's?" What are you talking about? This doesn't even make sense could you be more specific please?

I am not mad. I'll still probably pick up the game if it gets good reviews. But seriously, the lighting system is not trying to be realisitic. Just look at the absurd god rays in this vid

@silversix_Yep, it's ultra. lmao

btw, Not all leather is shiny. I wear leather and suede sandals (Clarks ftw--the inside is lined with lamb skin!), and they don't the rays of a thousand suns.

Something about the colors just seems off in this game. It has this bland-ish look.

I don't think it looks bad though. I bet it looks a lot better at night. Sleeping Dogs was the same.

Yeah, it seems like everything is out of focus--like theres a blurring effect over everything. That might be the TXAA, but I've never seen this sort of general blurriness in other games that use TXAA. And yeah, the night shots do look quite a bit better.

Hmmm, so no one wants an actual tactical shooter instead of a third person run and gun with the ability to turn invisible? Fucking a. I am never gonna get a Swat 4 style game ever again am I?

I'm not too sure what game you are referring to other than maybe the division... but you can turn invisible? Also, do you really think 1st person shooters are MORE tactical than 3rd person? lol... just no if that is the case.

WUT????

I think you know what he's talking about.

What in the hell are you talking about?

Are you not agreeing that 3rd person shooters are more tactical than 1st person shooters? That is funny if you do... However, I have no clue what he is talking about... I have not followed ANY of those games that closely, and the Division is the only one of the group I KNOW to be a third person shooter... can you turn invisible in that game? I know you can cloak in a game like Killzone but it's a first person shooter and not made by the same company or being discussed... so please, enlighten me, because now I am wondering what the hell YOU are talking about.

*edit* Sorry, perhaps he (and you) are saying instead of getting a good Rainbow Six we are getting a third person shooter with RPG elements? Is that what I am missing?

Still doesn't change the fact that I feel 3rd person is much more tactical though...

been a long ass day.. just bare with me... lol

I would generally agree with that. Third person views allow for better situational awareness. What I am saying is that we'll get a Rainbow Six game that bears little resemblance to the old tactical FPSs of old like Ravenshield or Swat 4. I am assuming the devs would use the excuse "oh, but kids today don't want that kind of experence." BULLSHIT!!! My fucking step brother and his kids visited my family recently and his nine year old son fucking loved Swat 4. He was on my computer playing the hell out of anytime he wasn't outside swimming in our pool. It's not the kids that are the problem, it's the fucking lazy adults that just want to breeze through all their games for their shitty plots.

-I am referring to Ghost Recon Future Soldier, which was pretty much identical to a typical TPS, but with the ability to turn invisible.

-I could give a shit less if it's 3rd of 1st person, although I think Rainbow Six games should be first person given that historically that has been the case.

This is a tactical shooter:

This is not one:

btw. I really really recommend going back and playing Swat 4. It was made by Ken motherfucking Levine and Irrational Games. It's soooo fucking good.

Well, you wanted shitty textures. Here's the shittiest one I found so far... Looks worse than Quake 3 lol

hahahahahaha! Yeah, I only noticed a texture that poor once so far, and it was underneath a cement outcropping in the tutorial area.

Friend bought the game for the PC. Didn't like it so he borrowed me his Steam account...

Anyway, the game looks good, and it runs surprisingly well on 1080p Ultra settings on my PC. Yeah, it has some shitty textures, but it also has some "wow" moments. I'd give graphics an 8/10. And I honestly didn't pay much attention to ground textures. But I took some as an example. Keep in mind Gamespot lowers the image quality for some reason...

The upper image is the ground texture, while the image below is a "pretty" one.

Also, cool easter egg:

The game looks much better in motion.

No, it really doesn't, because when it's in motion you get horrible aliasing crawling and texture pop-in. Even in those photos, you can clearly see the aliasing. The game does look good in some spots though, and the lighting in particular is very nice.
