Doujinsoft studio Edelweiss accomplishes just about everything it sets out out to do withAstebreed. It's inventive, beautiful, and absorbing. The music is catchy and perfectly fitting. I have no major complaints, really. It's an endearing experience from start to finish, one that I look forward to enjoying again and again for years to come.

This is one of my favorite shoot-'em-ups in years, and fellow STG enthusiasts would be remiss to overlook such a gem. Astebreed is a masterstroke. Spread the word.

Dark Souls 2, No More Heroes, Metal Gear Rising, Ikaruga, and now Astebreed? PC is out Japaning consoles. Strange times we live in.

I would if I had a WiiU. Game looks ridiculously fun.

You can do it, get the Wii U!

I probably will once a new Zelda comes out. If a new Metroid Prime comes out and it's as good as the old ones, I'll HAVE to pick it up.

I assume they did this in anticipation of the new Smash Bros. Good move.

I just saw it on the PS4 over at a friend's place. It looked good I'll say. Surprisingly good AA. Although I did feel really really odd after seeing him play it at 30fps for so long. Afterward, it literally seemed like the world was moving faster than normal. Damn 30fps!! Screwing up my vision!!

LOVED the PS4 controller! Damn does it feel amazing. I liked the 360 pad, but the PS4 was a step above--Gamecube controller levels of comfort. The joysticks are a little small, but it didn't really bug me that much. Would have also liked it more if it had some sort of thin, rubberized grip (ala the top of my Corsair M60 mouse); the plastic makes it feels kind of cheap. Overall quite good though. Definitely gonna have to buy one to use on my PC.

their experience is nowhere near my experience. it's been really good, and my gpu's an AMD gpu.

Same here. I am getting between 50-70fps with my 7870 and the new 14.6 beta drivers on a mix of medium, high, and ultra (water--damn it's good) with some SweetFX SMAA alongside the game's SMAA.

This is not going to be popular.

The Grand Theft Auto series bores the shit out of me. I can't stomach to finish them.

Not saying their bad games at all. Just not for me.

The only GTA games I ever thought were particularly amazing were Vice City and Chinatown Wars. None of the console versions has ever really surpassed Vice City, and have instead gone for the bigger is better mentality, which I personally dislike; in Vice City, I could know where I was going without having to constantly look at the mini-map, and it also was the only GTA that I'd really say had a good music selection (all the new ones are filled with shitty rap songs).

Oh, and Assassins Creed gets my vote. I can't stand the franchise. It has some of the worst controls imaginable, and yet never gets knocked for it. I also despise the franchise because it's diverted Ubisoft's attention away from the Prince of Persia franchise, from which AssCreed was born from. Prince of Persia (excluding the cel-shaded piece of shit one) was a thousand times the franchise that AssCreed will ever be. I fear we'll never see another 3D Prince of Persia ever again. Good night sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!

I stopped taking Gamespot's GOTY seriously (not that I really ever cared to begin with) after FTL failed to win 2012's game of the year. While I thought giving a Link Between Worlds GOTY last year was defensible, I still think Papers Please really should have won. A Link Between Worlds was an amazing game, but Papers Please was just downright genius (same with FTL).

I'd be alright if Dark Souls 2 won though.

You know, for a while there I thought there might actually be a chance that we'd get a Swat 4 style tactical shooter. I should have known better. The multiplayer looks alright, but the single player looks atrocious. The minute you start throwing around cop drama as a highlight...
