I don't consider those JRPGs. It's a western style ARPG made by Japanese devs, with little discernible influence from the traditional JRPG genre.

From what I've gathered, it's pretty much the only good console JRPG released during the last gen.

For the kind of games where I'd actually want to use a gamepad, the gamecube controller for sure. Some may say it failed due to its lack of a dual joystick, but the only games where that's even necessary (FPSs, TPSs) shouldn't even be played on a controller to begin with.

I'll give you the same advice I give others:

--NO LASER SIGHTS!!! Laser sights give away your position like nothing else in this game. If you're gonna hipfire, just approximate where the reticule would be or don't hipfire to begin with.

--Don't overdue it with the sights. If you're in a close quarters map, don't go for the 2x red dot or the acog. Use iron sights or the holographic sight. I wouldn't even recommend the 1x red dot.

--AP ammo should be your first thing you choose for your weapon, and work around that.

--Don't rush forward too much. This isn't CoD. Take your time and stick with your team.

--PLAY OBJECTIVES!! I know it can be tempting, but don't just sit around and snipe. Games modes like firefight can be over in minutes if you're not actively pursuing objectives.

--Download the mods like the tactical AK and any other mod which replaces the default iron sights with night sights. It makes a big difference

Damn, player count damn near tripled in Insurgency. Yesterday it was about 1000 around mid day, and today it was close to 3 thousand at the same time--probably even more atm.

Fuckin a, now I am NEVER gonna be able to get into my local servers in Insurgency!

I am just glad reviewers are finally starting to dock the series for having horrible controls. Both the IGN and Polygon reviews mention it....so yay! I feel vindicated.

I will admit though that I don't think the game looks anywhere near good enough to justify its performance. The characters have a weird blurriness to them even on PC maxed out, the hair is utter shit, and the geometry in many areas is pretty subpar. Granted it is an open world game and all, but I still think it doesn't looks all that good. Not that I give a shit--AssCreed is one of the worst franchises around and I am sure this'll be more of the same.
