Hey! Isn't summer just great? I think my fever is gone because I'm all happy now and the sun is shining, although I should hold a little remorse because Ben's gone but it's not like he's not coming back :) But the sun is out and I'm eating ice cream with those little sprinkles, listening to Snow Patrol. And the very good news is that the third and final book in the MI Trilogy is out on Monday 22nd of June instead of 6th July! So that's good. Speaking of books, I said this blog would be of my twenty favourite books. Ranging from kiddies ones that will never leave my imagination and ones that are a breathrough in literacy. Wow that sounds funny :D
Anyway here goes.. All twenty are my favourite so they're not in any particular order!Btw no major spoilers as such!
20.
TWILIGHT:
Yes I can admit that I fell into the little 'phase' the world had over The Twilight Saga. Not sure if it's actually over yet but in my eyes it is for me, not even sure if Stephenie Meyer is an athour I can really praise but nonetheless I instantly fell into this book. Most likely the first romance book I have ever read and reccomended by Dr. Phil over here last year! I can say I really liked Meyer's different take on vampires and with the extra 'abilities' they seem better than the clasical vampires. For the reason that this was such a succesful book, engaging characters, nice twist at the end and my first romance I can say it is one of favourtiest books so far but this could all possibly change :L!

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS:
Undoubtedly my most loved book in the entire universe of books! I remember when receiving this I marched around the bookstore shouting, JK IS GOD! JK IS GOD! JK IS GOD! And after tminutes I got a couple more followers :L Truly this book was the best in the series I thought. She wrapped the characters up so well, gave a hint of the future which everyone was itching to hear about and made me cringe when Ron and Harry were having their 'rough patches'. I do believe JK is God still and always will because if not for her, I would be talking about this right now because my 20 most favorite books wouldnt exist because it was JK in the beggining who got me reading. Alot of people have said her world of HP has brought people in to readingand I can say I'm one of them.So praise for JK for being the wonderfulest author ever! Did anyone else who read the last book think it was the best? I havent really heard anyone elses opinion on it?
18.
ERAGON:
I got this book as a christmas present and was a little reluctant to read it because I was never into Dragons and Elves and whatever else but when I finally did open and read the first page, I believed the writer drew me in more with his writing than the actual plot. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the concept of Dragon Riders and all of that but Paolini's writing is so strong and when I think about it really; the way he wrote it when he was just fourteen or fifteen it really shows how great he is at writing. Throughout this book, it had me on the edge wondering what was going to happen every minute! I did think the piece with Murtagh and Eragon was very predictable. Every scene they had together I thought of their outcome and I was right :L I won't spoil just in case! I have read the second book but my approach to the third one will be tentativley!
17.
CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY:
I can say I loved this book the first time I read it and read it over and over and over again when there were little school trips to the library- back when education didnt matter in Primary School!- I remember one of the teachers telling me to pick out a book and this was the first one beside me on the shelff. Roah Dale was always a good choice when you were a kid because he really related to children with his stories. Charlie and the chocolate factory is brilliant, everything about it i magical for a child to read. I'm thinking now if I should re-read it for the hundreth time but then again it's a kids book. I wonder if it would still deliver what it has done so well to deliver over the years as it would now than then. I dunno but all in all, one of my favourites!
16.
HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE:
Loved this book so much, second to HP7. The whole plot was really well layed out, the death came as a surprise and Harry's struggled again with Voldemort was even better than the last! I still dont understand to this day why I dont own this book! I really need to get a copy and not from the library this time!
15.
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD: I first saw the movie in English ****on film study section and I regret watching it because it made me want to read the book, but then again I knew the story from the movie so it didnt expect the book to be as surprising but it was! Harper Lee is amazing and I really liked the book. It's one of those novels that has a true meaning behind them. The novel has itshumour but then deals with the serious and more pressing issues of rape and the case with the Tom. The relationship between Atticus and his children is really something to notice and of all the books I have read has to be the most curious and insightful.14. THE GRAVEYARD BOOK: I love Neil Gaiman ever since I have read Anansi Boys. Nobody Owen's is suc a brave character. I love how Neil can tap into his character so well and realise their fears and weaknessess. This book was of interest to me because of my own writing of the paranormal. The effects in which Ghosts have and their abilities in this book are really intriguing and something to think about! The sympathy I had for Bod was throughout the book! Definetly a book to look into guys!
13. CITY OF BONES:Well this book was a serious page turner. Cassandra Clare makes her own world in downtown New York where Vampires, Werewovles and mysterious Shadowhunters prowl the streets. Clary Fray gets tangled into it all when she 'see's them, she isn't supposed to. No mundanes can 'see' the Shadow World. Now the question is how can she? Perfect book to read, easily done in two days. The prose aren't too difficult but the plot is at the end a tiny bit misleading somehow but otherwise a great book! 12. CATCHER IN THE RYE:J.D gives such an easily imagined character. One who most boys want to be, but really havent got the balls to! Holden is one of those rebellious teens that have constant defiance in their life! Love the dialogue Holden has too and his use of the word, 'phony' is soo American and enlightening :D They say this was the first YA novel to have bee, and I agree because you cant outbeat Catcher In The Rye. The characters, the writing and the story seem to just eat you in! 11.
THE HUNGER GAMES:
I picked this book because of the reason of most other ones- because of the popularity on the internet!. As I have said before I really like apocalyptic kinda things and this book is about a post-apocalytic world not too distant from present day, where as the book says, "Strategy is everything!" Because it is. Basically the book is about young Peeta and her struggle in the Arena where the annual Hunger Games are set- this being a televised game where contestants who are chosen battle against others for the chance of having their own life. Survival is basically everything in the games. I liked this book expect for the narrative but it really was somthing sorta different and I enjoyed it alot. And then heard this was a trilogy which is ten times better!
10.
THE SHINING: Undoubtedly the best author of Horror, Stephen King creates yet again a tempting novel to scare the day lights out of everyone! And this is his best novel, meaning scariest he has ever written. I loved the whole set up and the way everything just fell into place.Although I really didnt like Danny, he just seemed very boring but his abilities were cool. Psycho chef scared every piece outta me. This book in my opinion is Stephen Kings best maybe with the exception of IT.
And this my friends, is where there is a twist :L:L:L
But I havent done it on purpose, I swear. Instead of this being 20 its 10 today because friends have just called and are waiting for me! So I gotta go and my eyes are all bleary from the 40 minute blog!!! Too much! But I will blog the next 10 soon.
Anyway, how do you like those books? Any there that you hate, love, keep under your pillow? :L
Have a good day!
Shane
