Actually I was wondering if it was possible to have separate directories on different HDDs for Steam games? I'm guessing not.skrat_01

It is possible but it isn't something I would recommend doing. You need to use a third party program to create a "junction point". You can read more info here :-

http://www.rekenwonder.com/linkmagic.htm

You could also use a program called "steam mover" which does more or less the same thing :-

Not sure what operating system you are using but take the "time estimates" for copying stuff across with a huge lorry load of salt especially if it is Win7 (notorious for guesstimating the time remaining inaccuratly by a factor of 2 million). I recently bought a new HD to use exclusively for steam and I think it took around 2ish hours to copy 500gbs across. Naturally how long it will take on your machine depends on how fast your hard discs are.

If you don't want to copy it all in one go then there is a solution. All your games are stored in the steam/steamapps/common folder, each game is stored in it's own folder. So you could copy a few games at a time rather than copying the whole games folder.

You're one of those guys that take your girlfriend or wife out to McDonalds I bet, or is that50c price hike on the big mac just to much for you?

Prexxus

Nope I am one of those guys that wouldn't dare take my partner to somewhere crappy like McDonalds. I see you have completely missed what I have been saying but that doesn't surprise me one bit since you seem too busy trying to insult me and belittle me. If you are fine with being ripped off paying console game prices for your PC game then that is up to you. I am not fine with the practice though, there is a clear reason why PC games should be cheaper than console games and I find it unacceptable that EA and Activision are trying to hike PC game prices up but leave console game prices where they are.

Yep that is exactly what I am saying, I don't touch Blizzards stuff because it is over priced for what it offers and believe it or not I actually lived to tell the tale :o Nothing bad happened to me, there was no "curse" put on me, I didn't suffer the pox or anything like that. In fact my wallet was all the more healthier for not giving in to Blizzards extortionate pricing.

There is no jusification for Blizzard price gouging PC gamers and whilst it seems a fair few are fine to be mugs this PC gamer isn't. I will quite happily start paying $60 for PC games when console games are $70 and until that happens I will keep my money in my wallet.

Even SC2 is priced at 60 bucks and not on Steam. So with that logic, I'm assuming you hate Blizzard as well?

ralph2190

It isn't is it ? well I never knew that  oh wait yes I did which is why I didn't buy Starcraft 2 and I won't buy anything from Blizzard till they start pricing their products at a sensible level and allow me to buy their products where I want to buy them. This is not about "hate" I do not hate Bioware/EA or Blizzard I am simply not going to pay the outrageous prices for what they are offering.

Some people are just cheap asses. Leave them to there games, the rest of us will enjoy a premium gaming experience for 10 more dollars. Even though I bet you anything this tool is going to pick it up day 1. Prexxus

Tell you something I would rather be a "cheap ass" as you say than a mug. I refuse to pay the same price as console gamers for a very good reason, on the console there is a $10 royalty fee for every copy sold. The PC does not have this royalty fee so it is right and proper that PC games are $10 less than console games. Any company selling the PC version for $60 is trying to rip PC gamers off, the only "tool" around here seems to be you. Oh and no I won't be picking up Dragon Age 2 day one, I have a backbone and a bit of willpower which you appear to lack.

I aint touching anything Bioware/EA related with a barge pole, I don't care if god himself comes down to earth and proclaims the games to be the best thing since he saw Eve sit on a banana. I mean come on charging console prices for the PC product, leaving steam out of the loop, talking and doing special DLC a couple of months before the game is even released and then couple that with the fact it will probably need another $60 of DLC to get the "complete" experience.

Nope Bioware has been relegated to the level of "oh a Bioware game on a steam sale for 10 bucks" league, such a shame really.

Firstly you should verify the integrity of the game files by right clicking on Mass Effect 2 in steam and then select properties. In the box that pops up click on the LOCAL FILES tab then click on the button that says "Verify integrity of game cache". This will make steam check all the files were downloaded properly and any that got corrupted will be redownloaded.

If that doesn't work then try and launch Mass Effect 2 outside of steam. To do this go to the folder you have steam installed. Look for the folder called "steamapps" and open it. Now look for a folder called "common" and open that, in there you should see your Mass Effect 2 install folder. Open the Mass Effect 2 install folder and click on the folder called "Binaries" in there you should see "MassEffect2.exe" try double clicking on that to launch the game and see what happens.

Please read this dear sir: http://games.on.net/article/11155/Microsoft_to_Revive_PC_Gaming_with_Windows_8FelipeInside

You do know that isn't the first time they promised to be goody goody towards PC gaming don't you ? In 2006 they even said "sorry" and promised sooooo many nice things for the PC, then promptly did nothing of any consequence. This is why PC gamers are naturally skeptical when they see stories about Microsoft getting behind PC gaming.

As for taking down steam, not a cats chance in hell will MS ever be able to take down steam simply because whilst they are in the console market all gaming interests and resources will be concentrated on their console. In many ways MS actually sees the PC as competition to it's Xbox, so whilst the PC division may actually want to concentrate on PC gaming the Xbox division want gaming on the PC to fail hard and right now MS wants it's console to win so very very badly.

The only Microsoft console which was sold at a loss was the first Xbox and Microsoft abandoned it right away. Dante2710

You have a very strange definition of "right away" the Xbox 1 was released in 2001 and was discontinued in 2006. It's replacement the Xbox 360 came out in 2005, so I would hardly say a 4 year life span for the Xbox 1 is "abandoning it right away". It is true that they abandoned it earlier than usual and this has been put down to them wanting to get a head start over Sony and because they were unable to reduce the costs of the xbox 1 much further since it was built with "off the shelf" parts.

Either way both the xbox 1 and 360 haven't been sterling examples of profitability for MS. The Xbox 360 cost them 1 billion in repair fees alone for botched hardware.

Now given that sequence of events, do you think it's GameStop doing that, or EA/Bioware? :P Oh god... why do I bother. Haha. I go and check Bioware's forums to see where you got this idea from, and... I see you arguing with a bunch of people on there. Moreover, based on what are you trying to say that it won't be offered as paid DLC in the future? A *lack* of direct comment? I thought you were complaining about it being free for the PS3 initially, whoops.Makari

They have said these packs are "exclusive" to the PS3 THEIR words, it isn't me that is using the "exclusive" word it is Jesse Houston the producer of the PS3 version. No I am not complaining about it being free to PS3 users initially, I understand they want to offer some incentive to get a user base they crapped on to buy their product. I am complaining that this content will not be available to ALL Mass Effect 2 customers but apparently it is wrong for me to expect that.

Look you admit you are a Bioware fan and I appreciate I am not going to change your view that Bioware can do no wrong so I won't waste my time arguing this point here. I got tired of arguing that "all ME 2 customers should have access to all ME 2 content" over at the Bioware forums I don't want to start it here.

I don't even know why PC gamers are such fans of Bioware they sure as hell haven't repaid your loyalty. They were pretty quick to sell PC gamers down the river and get into bed with Microsoft making Mass Effect 1 exclusive to the Xbox 360. It was only after they were bought by EA that we got the chance of playing the game on the PC.

No, the Terminus/Blackstorm stuff isn't PS3 exclusive - for one, my girlfriend has had it on the 360 for most of the last year. It was another pre-order code deal from GameStop, IIRC. There are no PS3 exclusive content packs - they're including all of the later DLC for the game (Shadow Broker, etc) with the base PS3 version, and it was misreported as 'exclusive' content, usually in the context of '6 hours of exclusive gameplay' or something.Makari

I do not have the Terminus/Blackstorm stuff because I went for the Inferno Armour pre-order DLC. Now my pre-order DLC has already been put up as paid DLC for ALL ME 2 users, but the Terminus/Blackstom stuff is NOT going to be offered to PC/360 gamers as paid DLC but it is going to be offered to PS3 gamers as paid DLC so in my books that counts as exclusive content because I am excluded from getting it because I am on the PC platform.
