You do have a choice, the choice is this "buy games from developers that treat the PC appropriately and do not buy games from developers that treat the PC like a third rate system and DON'T pirate them either". If PC gamers do this then it won't be long before developers start going "hm why did so and so sell 6 million copies of their game on the PC but we didn't sell anything and no one even pirated our game ?". Then before we know it we will see "I know lets just do a crazy experiment and treat the PC right for a change". Then after that they will see that if you treat the PC platform right you will reap the dividends.

We are the consumers and we can show developers the right way to do things with our wallets. But that isn't going to happen if we think we can boycott games and still pirate them.

That is also another thing that we shouldn't take pleasure in. If lots of people pirated the game that sends a horrible message to the developer. If we expect developers to change then PC gamers have to act accordingly. If a PC gamer pirates these games then they are also part of the problem and they are encouraging developers to neglect the PC platform.

If enough people stop rewarding developers for crappy behaviour on the PC and start rewarding developers that treat the PC appropriately then it will lead to a much healthier PC platform for everyone and this change will happen a hell of a lot quicker if a good majority stop pirating games. Just because you have a beef with a developer does not mean you can go and pirate their game, by doing that you weaken your message considerably.

Well unfortunately you can't change what everyone else does, you can only change what you do. Then you know what if everyone starts thinking "well I can't make everyone stop buying Rockstars stuff but I am gonna refuse to be treated this way" then we might just start making some head way.

If you want better treatment for the PC platform then it is down to the PC gamer to steer developers back that way. Buy games from developers that treat the PC at least on the same level as consoles (plenty of developers out there doing it) and refuse to fund developers that treat the PC like some third rate system. If enough start doing that we will see a swift change from companies like Rockstar.

Now if you aren't prepared to do that and just going to use the excuse of "well why should I bother when no one else will" then obviously you can't be that bothered about the issue and you are quite happy to let developers/publishers treat you like this.

I bought my last Rockstar game when GTA 4 came out, after that I resolved to never touch any of Rockstars stuff again until they start releasing the PC version at the same time as the console version and that it was properly coded and optimised for a PC. If RDR comes to the PC I won't buy it because I don't see why I should reward Rockstar for making me wait.

How the hell can we do something to retaliate....?FelipeInside

Well in ye olden times there was a process called "let your wallet do the talking", if you are unhappy with a company and the way it is treating you as a consumer then stop giving them your money. If you are tired of waiting for PC ports of Rockstar games then don't reward Rockstar by buying the console version or the PC version.

I know it is terribly old fashioned but it is something to ponder, companies like Rockstar will only respond when their money supply is threatened.

Is it confirmed anywhere or is this still speculation?

Dantus12

It is just speculation, there is no evidence to suggest RDR is coming to the PC but that doesn't stop people continually doing these damn threads. Less than a week ago Rockstar were still stating "they had no plans for a PC version" now that is a pretty odd thing for them to say if they are going to release the game in 3 months time. I would've thought they would at least change things to "we do not comment on unannounced titles" which is the line the took with GTA 4.

There is no compelling evidence in the TC's post to suggest that RDR is coming to the PC but some are that desperate for this game they will latch onto anything that even remotely suggests a mere hint it might come to the PC.

The situation is some what confusing at the moment, until recently Ubisoft had introduced DRM that meant ALL of their titles required you to have a constant net connection (this included HAWX 2). However it has been discovered that Ubisoft have ditched this DRM in favour of authenicating the game only when you start the game up (every single time). It is not clear if this change in the DRM is "official" or just a mess up by Ubisoft and I believe not all games have had the constant net connection removed.

In short to be on the safe side assume HAWX 2 does have the always online DRM and plan your purchasing around that until the situation becomes clearer.

Instead of these dribs and drabs of DLC, why not make a full expansion pack bridging the gap between ME2 and ME3?

The_Capitalist

^ This, whilst I have more or less enjoyed the DLC I was disappointed with the length and actual content of it. I finished Shadow Broker in under an hour first time on insanity. I thought it was ridiculously short, I was expecting an intriguing episode full of twists and turns. The Shadow Broker had remained hidden for decades but all of a sudden it was "oh he is here, lets get him".

I just get the feeling that for a game like Mass Effect DLC just does not cut it, the only way to expand the storyline is with a fully fledged expansion and not this bits n bobs they keep flogging to us. I really miss the days of meaty expansions that is all I can say.

Why were you expecting fresh deals today ? Steam has nearly always worked this way. The last day of the sale usually features repeat deals that did very well in the previous weeks sales. They did the same last week as well on the Sunday last week it just repeated deals that were availabe the previous week. It is an excellent opportunity for people to pick up games they were on the fence about the first time or didn't buy because they weren't sure what lay ahead deals wise.

GTA4 was announced for pc in agust and it was released in october (so annoucmnent of pc version was 2 months before the release). I am sure the same will happen for RDR.STOCKMAN22

Erm no it wasn't, GTA 4 was announced at the beginning of August (16th) and released in December. I believe you are thinking of the console versions they were launched in October but the PC version was released in December. So we are talking nearly 4 months between announcement and release at least. So far you haven't even got an announcement you have some dude on yahoo answers posting a rumour from a blog of a guy that is known for posting ill fated rumours.

I know there is no point in trying to reason with you, anyone that would actually believe what they read on yahoo answers has left "logic" and "common sense" behind. Keep thinking March will see RDR on the PC if it makes you happy but don't too surprised when it doesn't happen.

Another guy said in Rockstar foruns that RD is coming to pc on March 2011 check it now

http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/article/12471/red-dead-redemption-now-available-on-xbox-live-games-on-demand.html

i am sure something going on!

STOCKMAN22

OMGZ OMGZ OMGZ you know what this means, you know what is going on ? What is going on is someone else went to yahoo answers and posted the information on Rockstars news site, THAT IS ALL. I mean come on here lets stop the flight of fantasy just for a minute. In that very thread you posted Rockstar stated :-

as everyone should be aware by now, there's no plan currently to bring Red Dead to the PC. If that should change, we'll let you know.
ThanksRockstar

So IF RDR is meant to be coming to the PC in March 2011 less than 3 months away do you honestly think Rockstar would be stating categorically that they have no plans to release RDR on the PC. I mean I have a low opinion of Rockstar, I think they are moronic idiots but even I give them a bit more credit than being stupid enough to keep denying a game exists if it is coming out in three months time according to the rumour mongerers.
