No it isn't illegal to burn the downloaded files from the EA store to a DVD. You can even burn the files to several DVD's if you want just to be on the safe side. The files you download from the EA store are linked to your EA account so only you can use them anyway. So it is perfectly legitimate to backup these files to DVD and actively encouraged since after 3 months you won't be able to download those files again.

since you bought a disc format, you get to keep it until you die, but if I'm correct, EA Store only lets you keep it for couple years. and then you lose your ownership.chapman86
That is incorrect if you buy from the EA store you do not "lose ownership" of the game. But then it could be argued you don't get ownership for any game you buy be it DD or retail. You pay for a licence to PLAY the game not own it. The problem with the EA store is that you can only download your purchased game for 3 months (unless you pay for additional cover). After the 3 months is up you will still be able to play your game perfectly fine with no problem. However should you lose the downloaded files then you will not be able to download the game again. Therefore if you are going to use EA it is essential you back up the files you download.
I bought it over Steam but had a lot of problems trying to run it, as did others.

I haven't seen many problems with Mass Effect 2 being posted, not had any problems myself game runs fine maxxed out at 2048 x 1152 and 60fps (quadcore + GTX260. As for whether it is worth it, both games are fantastic pieces of entertainment, sure you can pick holes and say "this should be done better" etc etc but you can do that with any game these days.
The only thing I would say is steer clear of the Digital Deluxe version it is a complete and utter waste of money. The collector armour isn't all that great (and you can't remove the helmet so it looks stupid) and the collector gun is pretty "meh" too. So save your money and go for the standard version.
I will shove this here since I can't be bothered to start a new topic on it. There is no need to wait till ME 3 to get excited ;) . Bioware are still releasing add on DLC for ME 2 the last one being "overlord" which wasn't too bad. However we are in for a real treat soon, there is new DLC on the horizon called "Lair of the Shadow Broker" and it features Liara in it.

I have never really been a big fan of Blizzards stuff, I am not really that hyped for Starcraft 2 so chalk up another "no buy" from me.
Great :)
this means when I have to reinstall windows my save games will be stored online ( just like in just cause 2 )
it also means that when I buy the retail version I can play frisbe with the dvd because steam gives me the luxery to download the game wenether I want :)

Just to clarify no it does not mean your save games will be stored online like just cause 2. The cloud save game service is just one feature of steam works and it looks like Mafia 2 is not using the cloud saving feature of steam works. It is only using the achievements, steam leaderboards and steam drm. It is possible they may patch in cloud saving later but right now Mafia 2 will not support online saving.
Well I never said steam was 100% bulletproof but then there isn't pretty much anything in life that is "100% bulletproof". However at the end of the day we are talking about a piece of entertainment here, we are not talking about something that your very life depends on. So like I said if you are not happy with the fact Mafia 2 uses steamworks then add some weight to your voice and don't buy the game. If enough people steer clear of Mafia 2 because it uses steamworks then you will find that T2 will quickly change their practices.
It just comes across as a bit hollow to come on a forum going "my consumer rights are being stripped away ........ but I am still buying the game". If you value these "rights" then don't financially reward the companies that are stripping them away.
Oh wonderful. Just wonderful. My rights as a consumer are stripped away once again.The_Capitalist
Not really your consumer right to not buy a product is still pretty much intact, if you are not happy with Mafia 2 using steam then don't buy the game. I personally have no issue with Mafia 2 using steam I do have an issue with them making exclusive content for other systems and there fore selling me the lesser version of the game. So I am going to exercise my right as a consumer and not buy it.
Seriously if steam is such a tool of the devil then don't buy the game, you won't die if you never play Mafia 2 will you ? Obviously the majority are quite happy with steam which is probably why they chose steamworks. I imagine if it had been announced they were using GFWL you would have had someone else doing a "GFWL for Mafia 2 .... my consumer rights are being stripped away".
There have been several threads on this already, the biggest one being this :-
