Surely none of those things can single-handedly redeem a game

e.g. I'd pass up a game with terrible graphics but awesome gamplay for a game with better graphics and similar (but not quite as good) gamplay

Purely because graphics, sound, story & control are all forms of stimulation or feedback from the player and the more connected the player is to the game the higher the fun factor or gameplay is.

Hence people could easily argue that tetris has better gamplay...the tetris song, bright coloured blocks, simple control...than Haze which in its defence beats Tetris in the story department...just!

Then again I'd say I'd forgive a game more for its downfalls if it has an awesome story...but I wouldn't play a game purely for its story...so I guess story matters to me most in terms of dragging me through what I'd most likely still call a terrible game.

Well it's pretty much like a normal game...controller input followed by immediate respone to players action. unlike other games that utilise QTE's where pressing one button results in an entire action sequence. It also allows the action to be more cinematic as keeping track of the entire scene isn't necessary all the time.

Not to forget the sequence where the FBI agent was locked in the car heading to the crusher...how could you do that without QTE or assigning 20 million different controller configs for the different circumstances in the game?

imo for the story-driven style of Heavy Rain the QTE's are a perfect fit, obviously its not to everyone's taste and it won't work in every game but nothing ever is/does.

Well I'd recommend the PS3...

a) Free Online Gaming

b) Greater Selection of FPS Games:

Killzone 2 (32 player, clan support)

Resistance 2 (60 player)

UT3 (added because of the mod support)

MAG (due Fall '09, 256 player, 3 factions persistant gameplay)

PLUS all the multiplats available on the 360 as well

whereas for FPS 360 has Halo + Multiplats...

errrrr...you guys do know you're comparing a prototype to a full retail game right?

Sony showed a tech demo of archery and you're comparing it to an archery game in Wii Sports Resort

The reason it shook so much is because the guys hands were shaking, obviously...they didn't calibrate the sensitivity at all for that as its a prototype!

[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="MortalDecay"] I just might do that. That's probably the only way I could find one with BC, which would benefit my wife, as well.MortalDecay

Ya I mean the biggest question you just have to ask yourself is. "Is the wireless that important?" and if worse comes to worse a year down the line and your like ohh snap I should have bought wireless, you could always get a linksys adapter

Wireless isn't too important to me...Our router is right by the TV, with an empty port, so it'll work out.

All PS3's have wireless....:? don't they?

[QUOTE="-RocBoys9489-"][QUOTE="johnlennon28"]because sony already had the ps3 eye and the six axis, so the new motion controller wasnt much of a surprise, while the 360 didnt have any of this gimmicks till this new camera thing, its just almost a copy of ps3 eyemicky4889

Yea, I wasn't aware the eyetoy had -Voice recognition -Facial recognition to sign into Xbox -Full 3D movement -Scanning objects Yea, definetely an exact copy of eyetoy!

Ya it can Scan objects and if it can Scan objects i'm pretty sure Facial recognition would'nt be too hard to pull off.

Voice recognition is already out there (has been for a while) e.g. End War made a big deal of it

only new tech is the 3d motion capture stuff...which admittedly is cool

Sony's motion sensor is what businessmen call a "generic hoax". It's a hoax designed to fool and stray attention away from another legit piece of hardware, so that the consumer would be confused enough to create a stalemate for both manufacturers. Examples would be InFAMOUS and Prototype or Rock Band and Wii Music It's almost guarentee'd that sony's motion sensor won't be released, because ms already knows they won't profit from it. It's too late in the PS3's cycle, and the 360 already is manufacturing their motion control. It's false advertising, and it kinda worked, cause everyone is going crazy over sony's motion sensing. Microsoft and Nintendo won 2010 and e3 imobingbaocao

well ms did say it would be compatible with future xbox releases...so I guess it will be released but it'll also be expensive!

[QUOTE="AlexSays"][QUOTE="Menalque2"]Well you'll have to forgive me as I recently finished watching Sony's conference and can safely say Kaz Hirai has more arrogance in his little finger than any Nintendo execMenalque2

Who cares about Sony...? I thought we were talking about Nintendo?

Oh yeah Nintendo, the company that has been successful for five consecutive generations and whose current home system is the fastest selling in history. Yeah, those guys had better watch themselves.

Exactly Nintendo now has more Mas Market appeal than Sony or Microsoft hence us "hardcore gamers" that waste our time arguing on system wars don't really matter as much anymore.

[QUOTE="cheapness1"]

[QUOTE="screechmario"]yeah Nintendo had similar demonstrations when the Wii was unveiled.

I think we all know where Nintendo's focus is...a very different attitude compared to Sony

Where has Sony's attitude gotten them? Last place, losing billions, lost most of their marketshare.

I think they realize they have to change their attitude if they want to survive.

They may not have sold as many consoles as Nintendo but I don't think they'll be emulating Nintendo's ethos any time soon.

Nintendo's focus is primarily on expanding the market by releasing casual games and things like a vitality sensor (wtf?) which is why for every 20 casual shovelware games on Wii there is 1 decent game.

Sony release casual games but that isn't their primary focus which is why their motion games are more likely to include the conduit or red steel type games rather than Rayman Raving Rabids 20
