@JDWolfie While I do find some of the reactions well beyond excessive, the fact remains that Fish has done some pretty bad things in public, such as his insulting people asking him questions at a GDC panel (check out his opinion about Japanese games) and some of his more out-of-hand comments in general. That does not make it ok to throw bile at him all the time and it is understandable he is leaving because of the toxic environment of the games industry at large though.

@Nxss-effa-sim The reviews and positive fan reception disagree with you. Did you even play the game or are you basing your opinion entirely on hearsay?

Ok, the parallels with the PS3 launch are going through the roof now, literally. The Wii U is like the dreamcast, the Xbox One is like the PS3 (at launch time). The iPhone is like the gameboy, the 3DS is like... well the DS actually (and that's a good thing). There's a crazy amount of history repeating itself going on these days.

@NightStalkerBX They wanted to try something new, there's nothing wrong with creating a new parallel universe of sorts while leaving the other universe intact. At least it's possible to choose from any universe and go on. Besides, the DS Castlevania games are pretty freaking fantastic and are in the original canon so might as well play those. Castlevania is better off in 2D, at least for now since nobody has figured out how to properly make one in 3D yet (unlike Mario).

Look, I love Ubisoft games and all that but outputting yearly sequels to open world games only dilutes the series as less and less new ideas come in and more filler is added instead of actual gameplay, not to mention the crazy amount of bugs and incongruousness apparent in a game stitched together from many studios at once as amply demonstrated by Ubi's own flagship Assassin's Creed series. Alternating yearly releases makes sense but what all this translates to is an all year round stress on all studios involved who are less and less free to innovate on smaller titles at the very least and internal discontent which translates into poorer quality. As much as I love open world games, sticking primarily to one gameworld type, especially one as expensive and life-sucking (for the game studio internally) as this makes no sense and is extremely risky for a studio that has historically had quite a diverse portfolio. Maybe Ubi will pull it off, but their recent track record shows they really need to hit the brakes a little.

This is fantastic news! Homeworld 2's graphics are still astoundingly beautiful even now! Starting with a strong base like that will hopefully yield a worthwhile modernisation, especially if they are providing both the games plus the expansion of the first one.

@Aphyosemion @chronocommander So saying what I think goes against your idea of free speech so I am not free to state it? I hope you can see the hypocrisy of that position. Anyway, my primary concern has been detailed further in another response on this thread. I wonder if you would feel the same way if someone was saying they would sexually assault the women in your household as some sort of "banter" then add joke and lol to make everyone understand "oh it's a joke". Tastefulness is just one aspect of the issue here. You want to focus just on that that is your choice, but look at the bigger picture of what this kind of problem originates from.

@xeidog69 @KamuiFei @chronocommander As I have stated in my response to Kyokamaru, I do not agree with the arrest either, but this situation covers a generally unacceptable "norm" in multiplayer culture that needs to be eradicated.

@Kyokamaru @chronocommander Just to clarify, I do not agree with the jailing, but I do think he deserves some form of public backlash. This kind of talk is all too pervasive in game chat sessions and it was never an ok thing to begin with, more like kids doing stuff their parents had no idea about and that turned into some sort of norm over time.

@Aphyosemion Do you seriously consider sarcastically stating the things he did to be funny? Witty? Something any sane human should even consider using in civilised (or even general uncivilised) thought/conversation?What is the point of freedom of expression if it is to justify spewing filth?
