@loafofgame:

Danny doesn't mention GG once in the video. I think his opinion of GG as expressed in his tumblr post can still fully apply, regardless of this video. He's not acknowledging that GG is just ordinary gamers who are sick of the gaming press. He's acknowledging that some gamers are sick of the gaming press. I think his opinion of GG remains unchanged, even though he's sympathizing with some of the sentiments expressed by GG-supporters, which he also did in his tumblr post.

Most of the vocal disdain towards the Gaming Press, has been from Gamer Gate. Although even to those who do not consider themselves on either side of Gamer Gate, it definitely exists on this site, the reaction to the Dead Rising 3 review is an example. However my point still stands --- he said that Gamer Gate, a group which has vocally shown disdain towards the gaming press (literally in their thousands) needs to be ignored; but then makes a video acknowledging how Gamers have fell out with the press. His Tumblr post was emotionally misguided, but I think this video..is a step in the right direction.

My thoughts on Gamer-Gate, is that for most of the part, it's won the ethics/disclosure part. This is the battle. There is still work to be done, here and there, but many sites have updated disclosure, even reluctantly.

Yet Gamer-Gate is reluctant to fight the war. By that, I refer to the culture war --- it's happened to comics, sci-fi, etc. The culture war is for upholding creative and artistic freedom, fighting censorship and kicking out the manipulative ideologues. This is why Gamer-Gate gets pissed off at SJW's, ********'s and the PC (Politically Correct Police) who are trying to censor video games and using games as a political prop, just as Jack Thompson did, Anita Sarkeesian is Jack Thompson 2.0.

You see...the 'ethics in video games journalism' front has largely been won (though there is still left to be desired), but Gamer-Gate is still reluctant to move onto the war.

In regards to Danny's video. A lot over at KIA really liked it. It back-tracked from ''Gamer Gate is best ignored'' because ignoring the problem, and suppressing it only makes it worse. Finally acknowledging the sour relationship between the gaming press and consumer. This was a big improvement over his Tumblr post, I'm glad he realized the faults with the gaming press (also, people are fine with ZQ sleeping with a dev; just disclose conflicts of interest).

It's also interesting that Danny compared Gamer-Gate to fundamentalist Christians, yet for some reason, in his video, acknowledges that it's just ordinary Gamers who are sick of the gaming press. I believe that this new video was a massive improvement over his intellectually dishonest Tumblr post.

To those who say ''Gamer Gate is barking up the wrong tree'' --- by all means, help us bark up the right tree. Come over to KIA and show us the ''real corruption''.

If you're a You-Tube Gamer making millions from Gaming, is it a 'waste of space'?

If you're a student who needs to study but is addicted to Gaming, is it a 'waste of space'?

Both of these scenarios differ. The function of Gaming is different for both.

The comments for this clevage article is interesting. It seems that most people are now sick of SJW's in gaming.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/fable-dev-apologizes-for-cleavage-tweets/1100-6426223/?ftag=YHR3d385aa

After that tweet was deleted from Lionhead Studios, it began to trend world-wide. If you click on the hashtag yesterday, most tweets were gamers pissed off at Lionhead. Hell, even a celebrity joined in.

Gamespot is swiftly becoming one of my favourite gaming news sites, along with The Escapist. Allowing Gamergate, and facilitating a civil conversation rather than *policing* one, is admirable. But I'm also liking some writers here, too. They're chill and not ideological crusaders.

For example, that article on Male Intimacy in FFXV. It was measured, made some great points, and was a really interesting read. But it so, so easily could have went the Kotaku way and started screeching about the lack of female characters. So I like that, and I really quite like Gamespot.

Agreed. I wasn't sure what to make of this site before, it reminds me of the Comic-Vine layout.

I hated Giant-Bomb when Klepek gained more influence (went downhill after Ryan), indifferent to IGN but this place is pretty great.

What I want from this:

  • Transparent video games journalism
  • An apology from the gaming press of their cowardly attack on gamers and the horrendous SVU episode they helped create
  • SJW ideology to either be isolated. The problem I have with SJW's is that they try to police what other people do; this is in accordance with politically correct bullying

What really hurt me with this, is that yeah --- video games have been attacked from the outside, but the gaming press to turn on gamers and pull that nonsense, really let me down.

This picture below is a tweet from a 20 year Game Dev and CEO of Frogdice mostly describing SJW ideology. The betrayal of the Games media has morphed into something else.

Also, this is his exchange with an editor at Polygon.

@mastermetal777: I'm aware it'd suck. My question is how would you as a Gamer react? Would Gamers protest in the street making a political statement? Or just leave it?

@loafofgame: It's not contradictory, but it is unclear; a generalization, I apologize on that point. So I will clarify --- press sites like Polygon, VG247 and Kotaku do not wish to be ethical. (Polygon and Kotaku are basically the worst of the bunch). Those in the deepest depths of GJP have no interest in ethics; so specific sites, such as Polygon --- that's why Kuchera attacked and blocked Kern on Twitter and desperately tried to mock his petition for a 'heal in the rift'.

Some sites are sneakily updating disclosure policy --- I'm not sure what to make of that personally. It seems as if it can satisfy people, without making a 'humiliating' apology like The Escapist did.
