People need to quit it with the wishful thinking, the 780 is a ways away, period. This is article is about the Kepler version of Nvidia's Quadro and Tesla workstation cards. Lastly, according to benchmarks the 680 handles surround just fine, even with the 2GB of vram.

With the AMD 8000 series coming out within a year, it would be smart to get a head start in the holiday season with something that can easily beat the 7000 series. Not to mention the GK104 wasn't initially supposed to be GTX 680, the GK110 was.

I can only WISH the GK110 is going to be that price or lower.

It could very well be GK112.

That's just all kinds of bizarre. Nvidia can't keep the 680 stocked and haven't released any die-harvested gk107s (ie 670s or 660s), but they're somehow going to launch a (presumably comically expensive) dual-GPU version?

Guess we're definitely getting the 700 series (with a proper gk100/110 as the high-end) later this year, then.

That's why we Nvidia is switching to Samsung instead of using TSMC, they should be able to get production up.

If you don't mind just having a single DVI.

Some nice 27" 1440p monitors. Panels made by LG and used in iMacs and Dell monitors.

It would be nice to know what your other components are so we can tell you if you will be bottlenecked.

If you don't plan on using an Ivy Bridge CPU, then a Z77 board isn't needed, go for a Z68. Also, if you are doing this via newegg, make sure to look through combo deals.

[QUOTE="configme"][QUOTE="adamosmaki"] This. If you wanna save money 7850 or 7870 are great choices for 1080p. Sure gtx680 is nice but with a card half that money you will be playing games at 1080p and objectively you wont notice any difference from the gtx680 the advantage of 680 though is it will last you longer playing games at high settings before upgrading ( for example say 3 years instead of say 2-2,5 years)adamosmaki
With Witcher 2 and Skyrim(I'm guessing with Hi-Res Texture mods) you will see a difference between a 7870 and a 680.

hardly. Objectively speaking will you notice the difference say at 1080p, 4xAA and 60fps to say 1080p 8xAA and 100fps ? yes 680 is 40-50% faster but objectively speaking the difference wont be noticeable Also skyrim even with texture mods its hardly that demanding ( my 6850 hits 40-45fps average with highres texture pack, realistic lighting mod and more dynamic shadows mod and thats in the cities outside it gets 55-60fps average ). Let alone a much faster 7850/70

Have you ever played Witcher 2 or Skyrim with Hi-Res textures? Those games will put a strain on both GPUs. Witcher 2 Ultra w/out Ubersampling won't get a 7870 with 60 FPS, the 680 will get around 75. The 680 will last a while longer then a 7870 in terms of future proofing.

A 680 would be total overkill. Save yourself $250 and get either an HD7850 or a GTX 570
