All I need is a blu-ray player right?

Microsoft deserves shutdown after the 54% failure rate of the 360. Microsoft makes me proud to be an american......NOT. It shits all over American pride.
Wii eww.......lol No thanks......i already have a XBOX360.
come talk shit after you wipe Bill Gate's load off your face
I'll have more fun with this 3D mario than any game on ps4 or xbone. Ps4 and xbone = yay now i can see more explosions on the screen in higher rez with a better framerate than I could playing on 360 or ps3.
P.S. I was super WOWed by the giant leap from HD graphics to HD graphics. The American consumer has been disgraced.

I guess i just miss the golden age, why did it have to end. GTAV was too short and too easy my score 75/100.
IMO - the hardest games ever had NO save points, ONLY checkpoints that reset when you turned off the console.
Games like the original Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, etc... for the NES.
I got to Dracula on the original Castlevania ONE time on my own and couldn't beat him without using a Game Genie cheat thingy.
I NEVER made it to the end of Ninja Gaiden. Never.
i've gotten to the final boss of NInja Gaiden but I stopped there after not being able to beat the second form. It looks like most of you have been brainwashed and dumbed down by easy games. I remember when all games were at a good difficulty, now your able to mention that one title that is at the difficulty that all games should be at.
1 title?
mushihimesama futari, mushihimesama hd, akai katana, dodonpachi daifukkatsu black label, dodonpachi saidaioujou, ketsui, muchi muchi pork, pink sweets, mamorukun curse!, espgaluda II, caladrius, ginga force, eschatos, raiden IV, gunlord, guwange (XBLA), neo xyx, exzeal
etc...then insert all the "known" difficult titles from this gen.
sounds like the western devs are the only ones who make the too easy games

TC obviously hasn't heard of the very basic and unsentimental law of diminishing returns. Aside from that, this generation transitions from 720p (1 million pixels) to 1080p (2 million pixels) which in itself is quite the achievement. Twice the resolution require alot more graphical power, but if you sit 12 feet from a 42" TV you won't see the difference. Game on a monitor, a laptop, a projector or sit close enough to a 50"-65" TV and you'll see a night and day difference. Videos on youtube WILL NOT resolve the true difference between 720p and 1080p so these videos are completely meaningless. However resolution is not the only upgrade we're seeing. We're also going to see larger levels, more dynamic environments, individually shaded grass, more particles, more advanced physics, all these stuff you might not notice at first glance, but will be there. Then there's the fact that there will be A LOT less aliasing in games. While 720p resolution and 2 X AA from last gen combated most of the jaggies from the 6th generation there were still loads of them, especially if you sat at THX Recommend sitting distance. This problem will not be as apparent.
Now the 9th generation is probably going to appear even less of graphical leap as this one, but I guarantee you, Playstation 5 & co will be 4K (8.8 million pixels) which requires a whole new level of graphical processing (high end PCs can do this already though) and yet you won't even be able to tell the difference unless your HDTV is 70" or bigger. Those of us like me with 106" projector screen will enjoy every single added pixel though.
On top of that I don't know what to expect from generation nine. Probably more advanced lighting techniques, shadow details and realistic reflections. Mark my words though, it'll take another 5-6 generations or 2-3 decades before we see "AVATAR" / "Hobbit" CGI level of graphics in real time on our consoles. The animations, reflections, shadows and lighting techniques are so advanced that even a room full of hundreds if not thousands of GPUs take minutes and some times up to several hours just to load a single frame. Can't imagine a single GPU taking that work load at 60 frames per second in 8K or 16K in real time for another 30-40 years to be honest.
I was reading what you said and then "larger levels" caught my attention. True the levels will be much larger but if I die and re-spawn 20 feet from where I died then the game is too easy, and there is no consequence for failure. If the game is too easy it doesn't matter how many pixels are on the screen or how the grass is individually shaded, it will appeal to one demographic, which is casual gamers who are wowed by pretty graphics and multiple explosions on the screen at once.
Games are becoming easier and easier and insulting the intelligence of the gamers. It's like the developers are targeting that new generation of gamers that gives up after one death at a boss. I don't know about you, but if I can beat a boss my first try then the game is too easy, and there is nothing worse than a game that is too easy. As I play modern games on current and next gen consoles I feel as though my skill and determination are not being properly exercised.
I remember the countless trials of beating games in the pre 2000's but even the sixth gen started to get dumbed down. Me and a friend could co-op halo and run through it in a day. If I were to die I don't have to restart the level, I just respawn at a checkpoint and continue to run through. It's really frustrating that games are requiring less and less thought to beat.
