So working on the all your game are belong to us podcast has given me some interesting challenges. Most important of which is tackling writing.
Now the main podcast itself is pritty raw and unscripted, but I want to have some prerecorded features in there also.
Most important of all are reviews. Ive written a few simple reviews for gamespot before. Just for fun and experiance, and its been quite a simple thing. Im not a great writer, but im compitent enough to be able to convay what i want to say.
But with audio reviews it seems a much harder thing to tackle. Words can begin to mean all sorts of things based on how you say them, and how you sound to people in other parts of the world.
I often ask also the other members to try tackle reviews, because i dont want it to be the rob smith show. Although smart and quite confident in real life, the second these people get the mic in front of them they crumble. The notes they have are never quite enough to carry them through, thier voices and train of thought never focused enough to build a good review out of. I can make something of it all in the edit, but its still a challenge.
Ive thought if writing different ground guidelines and just letting them at it, but im not sure they could build anything good yet.
Myself also, I know what i want to say, but i get lost easly, and have trouble finding what i really want to convay to listners. Thats also the key, making it good and interesting for listners.
Its proving a tough prospect.
So anyone have any ideas and tips to share with me and the fellow review writers?
