Just bought my -SIG- three days ago.It`ll do a nice gaming job before switching to Nahelm.

Got some upgrading headroom (CrossfireX,maybe Q Extreme proc..)

I also don`t give a rats a$$ about some +- 5FPS margin..

I know My Comp is "old" already and it won`t be GODLIKE, but then again you could upgrade every 2 months..

That`s why your rig is OK.And whatever you got - gets old.

I don`t know where you heard that, but there is no Information (at least @ Gigabyte) about the CHIPSETs getting discontinued-and the most fresh news from x48 6.AUG.2008 is that they are equipped with ultra this and energy that.. .-But I dont` have the "LATEST BUZZ";

Google finds specific online vendors "discontinued"/"no longer available" one or another x38/x48 chipset MOBO (maybe just stopped selling specific product line?)-

I just bought my GA-X48-DS5 (I ReALLy recommend) three days ago and it seems they are still widely in supply (I`m from EU)...

The X48 chipset is actually the predecessor of X58 (Nehalem!), so I doubt they`ll just discontinue it right away.

I may be missing smth though...

I think you're missing the whole point of the thread, the TC is asking if there are sales on these chipsets, not if they've been discontinued.

O S4it, i spelled discounted discontinued..::S sorry mate

It costed a nice round 200 € (=around 270$)

The p45 MOBOS are also a great bargain and were my first choice too,but since I had Crossfire in mind, that 2x 2.0 x16 PCI-E really sounded great.

All and all it comes down to budget and usage(again and again!:))

P45 costs about 70$ less , its great by all means, but x48 is more future-proof per say (crossfire,quad&Extreme processors)---

Both are already "old platforms" because of the LGA 1366 socket. But in terms of upgrading I think x48 will take you a bit further than the p45.

There is a superb compatibility variety for processors from p4 to C2Q Extreme,

has a 2x Pci-e 2.0 16x support for crossfirex

All Vista x64 ready (hardware drivers)

4 sec online boot time,1600 fsb,up to 16 gigs of mem,etc.,etc....Can have it all except i7 8)

It is really something to consider buying while the LGA 1366 matures and those prices (DDR3,new MOBOs, i processors) come down to earth..
