[QUOTE="amekhov"]It's a great game, don't listen to the gamespot review it's moronic. GS has the worst reviewers ever.amekhov

What exactly is wrong with the review? Simply attacking the reviewer without actually providing examples doesn't make you right.

That being said, it seemed liked there WAS a lot wrong with the game (lack of focus, poor quests, poor graphics) but it did say its combat was excellent. I have no bias towards the game, I just want to know more about the game and you offered nothing to help our understanding.

The review is written by an idiot, that's what's wrong with it. The game is not a 6/10, it's an 8 at least. Many people will agree with me. Poor graphics don't make or break a game for an intelligent person. A game is about gameplay, and this game has EXCELLENT gameplay. This is not a story driven game, nor should it be. Having typical and overdone quests like every other RPG would not improve this game for many people.

Its not uncommon to have poor GS reviews. TF2 anyone?

[QUOTE="crazymaghie123"]The universe of Kotor is perfect but the gameplay I don't feel would work well in an MMO these days. They will have to make some changesLach0121

lol like wow did with warcraft, it went from rts to mmorpg,,, like warhammer, same thing......

Well the game's success depends on it.

i think they know what they are doing, i mean they have been working on it for over 2 years now. still a while to go, and gives them enough time to see where other mmo's fail, or succeed, and implement it into the kotor universe...

I never said they didn't know what they're doing. I was merely making a comment that the "Kotor" gameplay that people know and love wouldn't be overly conducive in an MMO.

Most roleplaying games are set in fantasy worlds and most of the most popular roleplaying games are set in fantasy worlds - offline as well as online.

To the people saying that World of WarCraft has something to do with it - google Ultima Online. Then google EverQuest, Lineage, Asheron's Call, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, Ragnarok Online and EverQuest 2.

WoW does have something to do with it. After WoW's success, hordes of companies have been trying to emulate their success that wouldn't have even heard of the genre. If WoW didn't come around there wouldn't be nearly as many Fantasy MMOs.

I think its mainly because of WoW. Since its so popular, competitors want to try and beat Blizzard (but end up just copying them).

A Sci-Fi MMO is hard to come by.

If you're really set on getting EvEO then I suggest reading player reviews on it before you buy it.

GodLovesDead

It has nothing to do with WoW. A majority of MMO's were fantasy based long before WoW came around. Fantasy is the easiest genre to do.

Exactly. And not necessarily all MMOs are fantasy based. There's several non-fantasy MMOs that have come out if you've been paying attention. Eve Online, City of Heroes, and Anarchy Online all spring to mind.

Theres a lot more non-fantasy MMOs coming too. Prepare yourselves. The companies are now just realizing that they can't beat WoW at its own game..
