@torbonator: Why, the primary function of a console is for gaming and you can still stream 4k content. If it included a 4k player I doubt it'd be for sale at that price.
Currently I have a PS4, Xbox One and a 1080p TV. At the moment my money is going on the Playstation VR. The reason is I could either spend my money on upgrading something I have already (the TV or PS4) or get something the offers a completely new experience. Also I have heard a lot of positive things about it from people who thought it was a bit of a gimmick, but since trying it out think it's great.
That said I do think the PS4 is exceptional value for money, considering the performance. I think the biggest impact the Pro will have isn't the 4k but the improvement in graphics for VR and that my persuade me to get one.
@itz_sinz: I don't think you know what future proofing means.... It means the device is less likely to become obsolete, this is because it supports 4k, which no other consoles do.
Why would you say the hardware is already out of date?
@northdistortion: How is this innovation, you do know pro gaming controllers have been out for years for the Playstation and Xbox consoles, just take a look at www.scufgaming.com. Microsoft haven't done anything new, if you want to look at innovation then look at the steam controller. It does look like a great controller, not sure if it's worth the money though. The sad thing is how much of a pathetic fan-boy you are.
@nprezzo: Actually the PS3 has sold 86 million versus the 360's 85 million. Why do you say the 360 was more innovative, the PS3 had the CELL BE processor which Sony and other companies spent loads developing, it had blu-ray, supported dual operating systems, you could boot Linux on it, I was great as a media centre and was more powerful than the 360. What innovations did MS have? In terms of exclusives both consoles had lots of great exclusives, it all comes down to personal preferences,Sony had a wider variety of games.
What a misleading article. The 360 didn't dominate that generation of gaming the Wii did. Furthermore dispute the PS3 being released a year after the 360 it has actually sold more (albeit only just) and was a higher price, the 360 actually came last out of those three consoles.
