No.  It took millions of years for gravity to get those gases compressed enough to form  a Star.  Maybe, if we had really good superconducting technology.  But it won't matter, because the earth's surface will be thousands of degrees fahrenheit before the sun dies.  It has to expand before it goes out, and while it won't vaporize us, it'll get hotter and hotter over millions of years, and then the plasma ejection from it's 'popping' might be lethal as well.

*bump*  If it helps, I have an Antec 550w True something or other that's almost 2 years old, haven't added anything to it since the time I installed the PSU, it just suddenly started doing this about a month ago.

This one is kinda weird.  For about a month now, everytime I turn off my computer I have to flick off the power supply and turn it back on to restart it.  I've checked the cables, they all seem to be in place...does anyone know why it might be doing this?  I'm not building a new computer until this fall.

Anything that takes honest-to-god talent or evokes emotion not found in otherwise bland popular music.

There is nothing in our lifetimes really that will threaten the whole Human Race. A few hicups here and there, but nothing really serious. Science and the world are getting smarter and smarter everyday and are able to fix things that they couldnt before. Nothing in our lifetimes will threaten to kill all of the Human Race. qwerty2305
Supervolcanoes.  We can't predict when they'll erupt, and they CAN threaten the whole human race.  They've been occuring roughly every 600,000 years, and we're overdue for one by 30,000 years, which basically means it could happen again any time.  A regular volcano eruption (albeit a strong one) tens of thousands of years ago was believed to have lowered the amount of reproducing human females to as low as 30.  As for the overpopulation bit, I seriously doubt that 9 billion is the correct figure.  We have gained 5 billion people in the last 50 years, but not at an even rate.  It spiked and plateau'd in the 1970's,  and then just rose almost exponentially from there.

Did you also know that we can purify our Urine into water? In 50 years everybody will have a cheap, purifying machine in there house I suggest.

As for plants. Yes they can live in a Basement in your house. All you need is really Bright Lights down there that act as a Sun. But I dont think it will ever get to this stage in our lifetime.

That's right, water purification would be cheaper if done on a personal level, but still, where do we put the waste product?  The bad chemicals don't magically disappear, they have to go somewhere.

And overpopulation could be a problem in as little as 50 years, and that's a conservative guess.  There is going to be at least 20 billion people on earth in 2050, if things continue at their current rate.  It's crowded enough as it is, and we only have 7 billion right now.

ET killed the Atari 2600...they dumped 2 million copies in the desert.  Some guy dug some up later for the heck of it.
