@WolfGrey That was intentional. The game's designed to be playable on most machines. Of course it's not gonna require a computer that can run Crysis or the Witcher 2 on ultra. It's a marketing decision...but that said, I agree with you. It's disappointing that I could (in the beta) crank up the hd to 1080, attach it to my 42" hd tv, maximize all the settings...and see a game that looks slightly less graphically impressive than 2006's Titan Quest.
@gops90 Agreed...for the most part. I take issue with Activision personally, which benefits greatly off their developers and, from what I've heard, Bobby Kotick is the worst boss on the planet. Look at what happened to Infinity Ward.
@KodiakCS Did it ever occur to you that a game can have hype and still turn out good? If nobody had ever even heard of Diablo, and it was going to be released, would you still feel that it was "sure" to be a failure? Just 'cuz us gamers get antsy when we wait for 12 years for a sequal doesn't mean it's gonna suck.
I wondered this myself. I think randomization plays a big role...how many games can say that each level, each weapon, each item, etc. will be different every playthrough? I also think its success can be attributed to its mood. It's a very dark, very sort of Doom/Horror game, it's a great depiction of true evil from an artist's perspective. That, and add a seamless multiplayer element, and you have yet another Blizzard success.
I don't understand why these articles are still being posted. It's been an almost definite answer for almost a month now guys: Almost every single developer has condemned the idea...and the very few who have supported it have literally been publicly denounced by the fan base, so this really won't be an issue. Every single article like this implies the same: It's not gonna happen.
If you don't want it...don't use it. There's 2 auction houses guys...the same crap can be sold on both...but they give you the option of not going through the effort of finding the item or making the gold by offering this. It's not a typical money move...it's offering the same thing, just with money...and until they remove the gold based market place or actually make exclusive items for the money based marketplace...I don't see an issue with this. Games of late have done far worse. And I don't think anyone's gonna have trouble actually selling their equipment...Blizzard has a tendency to make games that are addictive enough for players to put money into it. Some guy might buy your epic sword, and you'll actually be making a profit off of a VIDEO GAME...which has never been offered to us before, so the dollar charge is really not much if you think about it.
Well it looks like it takes more after End War in that it focuses on military. If the MMORTS genre is your thing: consider also Age of Empires Online and Stronghold Kingdoms. However, all of these games seem to have a market for selling certain things. I wish there were a true F2P MMORTS...and not a game that claims to be F2P, in which the real "free" players just get their ***es handed to them by paying players.
There are too many rumors and hints flying around. Let's be honest, nobody here knows who was responsible for the ending, and it could be EA, or it could be Bioware...and I'd like to think that EA cares enough about their products to intervene in this case, although I think the chances of that are unlikely, unless it is proven that EA will suffer financially. But let's just be clear on what you're asking. You're asking that EA change the ending. So, EA drives over to Bioware, tells them that their ending wasn't good enough, and has them redo it. Now, we don't know that Bioware is responsible for it...so what we'd essentially be doing is tasking Bioware to fix a problem that it's possible they're not responsible for. Bioware, the developer, would suffer...while Electronic Arts, the publisher, would ensure a constant stream of profit and ensure that all customers are happy. Let's put this in Mass Effect terms: Paragon: Investigate who is responsible before chastising a specific group that could have actually been working to support your position. Renegade: It was never about them, it's about us. As fans, we don't care who is responsible, so long as the problem is fixed. And yes, I'm aware that it is slightly different from writing a novel, but I've written stories that had multiple endings and paths before. You can't completely discount it, there's creativity there...regardless of the motion capture, the special effects, the surround sound...etc.
